I was wondering is there anyway to make a S-S-H guitar so that when you swtich the pickups you get to keep the same volume?
Im figuring that basically the Humbucker has soo much more output than a single coil. now I know you can get stacked humbuckers which would probably be a way to fix this problem. But I don't suppose if anyone knows if it is possible to get a single coil sound with a humbucker or is it simply impossible. at the moment i got the irish tours and i really like them.

Try a set of trilogies, they have lots of power but still sound like singlecoils. They match most humbuckers really well volume wise.

You COULD lower the humbucker height, though this will effect the dynamics and stuff. If you added a resistor to the humbucker to "turn it down" a little, it'd lose a lot of top end. I suppose you could get round this by adding a resistor and a cap (to bleed the treble through) to the humbucker, though I'll have to look into it for you.

EDIT: I was talking to a friend, and apparently the resistor/capacitor idea would work, but the pickups would sound like cr@p. Can't you just turn it down on the bridge pickup or add a compressor or something into the guitar? I really do think it's more effort than what you're gonna get out of it.

+1 for Trilogy's. I have them with a Nailbomb and they blend in really well. I am not sure if Tim does any different winds if you request a H-S-S set. I know he made me a set with a Crawler and 2 P-90's where again the balance is perfect.
