Title: ceramic BKP warpig in Dellinger 2
Post by: K-Roll on November 16, 2009, 11:40:21 AM
Hi,

so I just bought a ceramic Warpig and a alnice cold sweat to replace the bridge pickup i had in my dellinger 2. Originally there was the PH-r, which i find quite gritty and somehow lazy (even though caparison say this is a high output pickup i do not find it that hot). The CS is great as for the neck position.
I threw in a ceramic BKP warpig. What i was looking for was clarity, a nice mid-sweep that would stress the usual caparison sound when playing, not too bassy, rather singing. And i think i failed, because it gave me even more bass in an already bassy sounding guitar and an overkill of gain, which now gives me a rather boomy and fizzy sound, which i quite don't like.
I am running my delli 2 into a 5150 - into EVH cab. love the tones of evergrey and am looking for a tone like that. (which many people say the PH-r should deliver but it did not sound that way at all).
If you have any suggestions? or if there are any dellinger 2 owners - what pickups do you use in yours? would a painkiller work better? or any other BKP or nonBKP?

Thanks

Warpig (with either magnet) is probably the last pickup you want if "not too bassy" is one of your criteria :)

A Painkiller would be a far better bet, as would a Nailbomb...

thanks a lot. I am somehow afraid to put a nailbomb into a mahogany body/ maple neck/ebony fretboard guitar.
ah i forgot to mention.. i will highly probably use drop C tuning with this guitar..  or drop D but definitely not standard ones

why? it should work very well unless it's a very dark sounding guitar... in that case i'd prefer a painkiller, a cold sweat or a rebel yell, depending on what are your tonal preferences...

The cold sweat bridge is the right one in this imo.

To be honest I think you need a more mid punchy pickup like the Holy Diver. This is a good example of its punch in a clip I did recently

A rebel yell may be a good option too though I havent tried one. I didnt like the painkiller I found it too harsh and not punchy enough in the low mids but thats just my taste
