Lot's of expensive custom builds going on around here so I thought I'd bring us all down to earth with this lovely £130 blue collar tele. My father in law plays mainly acoustic so I sugessted buying him a cheap electric for xmas. I tried to wangle a classic vibe tele but this is the most we could really spend. Vintage have an okay name so I though what's the worst that could happen.
Got it this morning, opened the box. Not too heavy, not loo light - good start. Tuned up by ear quickly and stayed in tune. No sharp frets, well seated an polished okay (not like mirrors but didn't expect that). Thick but nice poly finish showing the grain. Nice ring when played acoustically. Plugged it in....nice, has a really springy squaky tele kinda feel.
For the money I'm astonished, it's a great guitar...in fact I had to have a quick play of my £800 Allparts/Callaham/glendale/BKP Tele just to make sure it was actually better. And it is, the tone is a little depper and it feels better but then again it should....
I'd happily gig this guitar and it will sound even better with some decent 11's on it.....

Nice!!!

Nice guitar! I see it even has compensated saddles and a very decent looking bridge. Trev Wilkinson really knows his stuff. :)
The truth is there are very few really bad guitars out there. We're paying lots more money for really quite small improvements in tone and playability (which isn't to say it's not worth it! )

yep, very nice. i put those same saddles onto the classic vibe tele i liberated from twinfan just last week :) they're a good job, proper thick brass. the guitar was already very close intonation wise, these just gave it that last little sweetening! and as a bonus, the sharp top of the low E height adjustment screw is now gone
hope your father in law likes it

Looking good. They seem to have a great reputation.

Looks good for that price. I've tried a few of Vintages guitars and they really good. A few pimps here and there and they would be even better!

The quality of those looks so much better than my first 'leccy.
