hmm.
stuck mojo put me off anything splawn.
also, i think the discussion about scott splawn putting bible versus inside his amps has come up on hear before.
I also heard that he puts 'fake' components onto the PCB's inside his amps to hamper reverse engineering.
just what i heard...
but that does look quite nice.
-
Bible Verses in Amps? Surely that's some kind of illegal?
Paddy
-
im sure we've spoken about that on here before.
i think they might contain a US flag as well.
-
Hmm, I've seen Marshalls with Union Jacks and RAF logos too 8)
Well as long as there are no creationist claims or pictures of George Bush inside ...
-
As soon as I get my Marshall fixed I'm changing the Marshall logo with a Pentagram...

true.
inside though?
im sure marshall don't put union flags inside the chassis of amps. fine on the outside if you want to say its made in england i guess. or if you want to give that impression. I guess the RAF logo was re appropriated by mods.
i know your only playin though...
i guess its just down to whether you really want a sneaky flag and verse inside your amp.
I'm gonna start building amps and hiding swazzies and passages from Mein Kampf inside.*
*actually im not!

limited edition george bush grill cloth? i hope that IS real!
-
This is probably a silly question but why on earth would you care what is written on the inside of your amp? I can understand why the external looks of an amp are important, but inside?!

But why the hell would the builder care enough to write something IMO quite irrelevant on the inside of the amp?

That's why, I guess. It's not at all irrelevant to him.

How the hell did it become Barack Obama's fault? :)
-
wow.
personal relationship, eh? you think he could put in a good word for us?

I don't want some presumptious cat putting chat from an ideology I'm completely at odds with inside my gear. Basically.

You wouldn't be buying any Landgraff effects either then.
-
I've never even heard of them, so it's certainly unlikely.

 Me neither, I've just been googling them - apparently they make very high-end, very expensive, pedals and amps. They don't even seem to have a website so they're truly "for those in the know".
Visual Sound have a bit of God-bothering on their website too.
It doesn't really bother me, but I can't imagine a British outfit bringing their religious beliefs into the workplace in the same way. Tony Blair excepted.
-
yes, it does seem to be a curiously american thing, and i don't mean that in any way to offend any americans. although here in northern ireland you do get it too. religeous zealots of any kind make me... uncomfortable
-
^ yeah, definitely in northern ireland. I don't mind people being religious, that's their prerogative. I don't like them bringing it into politics, or thinking that they can force you how to act.
That being said, I don't care less if scott splawn puts it inside his amps. If i didn't buy from everyone i disagreed with (not that i even disagree with his putting it inside his amps) on anything, I don't think I'd buy from anyone to be honest.

GB too. I've lost count of how many times "son of the manse" has been used.
-
Ahhh!! so that's where they get their Godly tone!!
-

Yeah, but I don't get the impression he lets it particularly influence his politics.
Having said that, if he came out now and said the war in Afghanistan was decreed by The Lord* and we were going to start teaching Creationism in schools I don't think he'd get lambasted any more than he does every time he opens his mouth.
(* not Andrew Lloyd Webber)
-
aye
-
If it had some kind of Devil worshiping scriptures inside their amps, that would kind of fitting but this god bothering bollocks on the other side of the pond is really isn't cricket. If you go to church, fine but why do things like that? It's a bit freaky.
I may have to pull my Koch apart to see if it has any...well god knows what inside it!

Well it was made near Amsterdam, so it might have a brass, or a spliff.

Back on topic, here's a clip, sounds GREAT:

I put dinosaur fossils inside mine to f*uck with the creationists
-
It does sound good!!!
-
Crikey, that mission statement really is something.... has quite put me off them actually! Not because i'm some kinda bible-hating chap (it's all neither here nor there with me... and i don't have enough time in the day for commitment to someone else!), but because it's far too overt, and now that company has an attachment that I wouldn't be particularly happy with being that strongly connected with. Real shame actually, as they've been near the top of my amp list for a good few years now! Ah well, at least the Mesa MKV has one less (cheaper) contender to deal with :)
-
Actually... There are a number of BKP's players that do own Splawn amps and never care for the whole religious thing or politics. I guess it is whatever you want to make out of things.
-
Put me in the "not bothered" camp. I'd never heard of Splawn before I came to this forum (TO, or D'n'L as he now is, was the first person I'd heard talk about them), but this doesn't put me off getting a Splawn amp in iota.
Actually, look more closely at the wording, one wonders if it might be tongue in cheek:
We give all the honor and glory back to the One who is fully responsible.
Isn't that a round about way of saying "talk to the hand if you have any complaints"? :)
