Hi everyone,
This is a rather long clip of a jam over a G and C chord, using my friend's new studio gear (inc MAGIX Studio 10.0 at 24bit, Audio Technigues mics). He's playing the backing chords on a Martin electro, and I'm noodling over the top with an Organic Standard guitar, through a 10ft Smart lead into a modified Seymour Duncan Convertible amp, with more or less flat eq, with the volume knob on the guitar rolled back slightly.
That's about it, hope its useful/entertaining!

Outstanding! Great sound, almost like a hollow body.
Very sweet and bluesy.
-
That cool, UP. :) The lead kinda reminds me of old surf music in a way--the mellow stuff that came up on movies like The Endless Summer.
-
That is one of the most inspiring tracks I've heard. Keep it up!

excellent sir!
-
Nice one- good mellow sound
-
Really great tones and soulful playing, good stuff.
-
Nice relaxing vibe! Nice tone and playing.

Thanks guys, and thanks to Mark (on acoustic) for recording it!
This was actually going to be called "Stormy Monday neck humbucker, SM split neck humbucker, Stormy Monday and Nailbomb together, split SM and Nailbomb, split Nailbomb, bridge Nailbomb"..... 8) ..... but I kind of forgot about doing all that after about the first note. Next weekend I might be able to have another crack at something.
And Hayden..............maybe I don't need that Matamp after all!

Nice tone....it's rather warm and tubular... good job
-
Stupid people and your clips. I want some Stormy Mondays for my Les Paul now...
-
Very nice! Great playing and great tone.

Thanks Tom!
Calum I think the SMs were designed to be used with Les Pauls. PDT_003
I don't think it would sound quite like this clip, but probably as good just in a different way.
It's worth mentioning that I've just measured the pup as being wound down 5mm from the top E, 7mm from the bottom E (i.e. quite a long way) which I guess in theory means the guitar's natural tone is playing a larger part in the end sound than it might.
Check out HJM's clip from a while back for another (better, IMO!) version of the SM's sound.
Next clip could be with a Matamp :D :D :D

Here's an intro I recorded on the same day.

Hi everyone, Mark's just uploaded this thing for me (thanks!), it was never gonna go out 'cos its a bit rubbish, but I thought you might be interested anyhow.
It was recorded on the same day as the original clip, with exactly the same amp settings inc. volume, using the bridge Nailbomb through a Fulltone OCD.
Its fizzier than I remember it - could have done with the amp's volume up a bit more - but it shows how having two completely different pickups does have advantages versatility-wise, which I think was debated on this 'board recently.
P.S. close your ears at 21secs..............and enjoy! :D
