Hi there,
as warmoth are on sales, I'd like to try a new body for my Tokai Strat, what I'd like to do is pair a Tele bridge PU with a strat middle and neck.
I am looking at a rear routed body. If I chose Tele-SC-SC routing, would I be able to screw the pickups right into the body or would I have to fit a scratch plate?
Thanks for advise!
Cheers
CJ
Edit: I was thinking to top mount Tele-SC-SC without the tele bridge plate but with a wilkinson trem instead - that possible?

You should just be able to screw them in I think????

Yeah, like this:

Mmm.. Nice finish.

Hm, I think I wanna change plans
HB - SC - P90
Waddaya think about that in an ash strat style?

Soundwise, I think it'd be cool. It might look a bit funny.... maybe you could go HSH but use an MQ as the neck pickup?

Hmm, I'm changing my mind per the hour right now.
I want an Ash body and I want a Wilkinson VS-100.
Important to see what I have "in stock" right now:
Neck will be the Tokay Maple/Maple Strat neck 21 frets and really nice, medium profile, vintage radius.
In pickups I have:
3-Set of Apaches
Bridge and Neck Gibson P90
Bridge and Neck BKP P91/P92
RY Bridge
SH-4, SH-5 bridge, '59 neck
Bridge and Neck PRS McCarty HB
I am still wondering if I should go top routed or rear routed and what pickup combo to use.

think of it this way, you now have three guitars to build but you're not gonna get any if you keep changing!

Have you got any existing showcase bodies in mind? Presumably they're already partially routed so that might limit your options? :?
-
Thanks for all the advise guys.
Actually when I had added all Accessories and shipping, it went way over what I was prepared to spend. Pity really.
This was the one I was looking at: (http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/images/bodies/medium/ps4276e.jpg)
I can't stop looking at it. Methinks brushed chrome HB in the bridge and 2SCs or HSH with two covered HBs - that would have been classy.
But cost is still too much, even with the reduction :x

If it's any consolation hunter, that is exactly what happened to me with the first 5 serious plans I had for a Warmoth!

The 20% off outweighed all other considerations for me - after all, that's taking the chance to make a sensible investment. Not giving in to GAS at all!

It's what I do all the time!

Question - when you buy a new body for a Tokai strat, does it stop becoming a Tokai strat?
I sense a Triggers Broom analogy coming on...
