Title: Vid of my new rig
Post by: psy on November 26, 2009, 12:15:57 PM
Played the first gig using the Sansamp preamp in my rack on Tuesday night.  Here's a little video a mate took on a phone (I dubbed the sound on from a recording I made on my iPod as it was less of a distorted wall of noise).

Yeah, me too so far.  Seems to makes the notes in a chord stand out more than the distortion on the GT6 does.  I'm still getting my head around the controls on it, I'm sticking with the default Marshall high gain patch (05) for now. :)

Thanks man.  I love Mockingbirds, they look rock, but without being too pointy.  :D

You're no doubt using a valve power amp..

If going direct into the PA, you can put a nice compressor pedal between the guitar and the sansamp to bring some of that valve squish back. Going direct, I sometimes find I lose some sustain and the ability to get feedback - it depends on the sound system and monitoring.

I use a Monte Allums CS-3 mod

Cool, thanks gwEm, I'll bare that in mind if I need to do direct.  Yeah at the moment I'm running it in to a VHT 2/90/2 & using a Boss GT6 for MIDI switching & FX.
