I've got a Fender Jag-stang, which despite its ability to polarise opinion, I love.
About a year ago I asked Tim for his opinion on what I should choose to replace the Seymour Duncan SH-5 I have in there at the moment. Given style of music I'm after (modern rock/metal eg. Fightstar/Funeral for a Friend) he suggested a Nailbomb.
Since then I have not played it much and been using my Les Pauls almost exclusively (one has Rebel Yell set in it and the other a Nailbomb/MQ combo).
I'd like to still upgrade the Jag-stang. It's a big slab of basswood and quite a bassy/woolly guitar. I love the Nailbomb in my LP, and that's definitely the kind of ballpark I'm after.
However, I'd like something a bit different...a bit tighter than the Nailbomb, but not really full on metal territory.
What do you guys suggest before I mail Tim?
Thanks.

Perhaps a Rebel Yell or Cold Sweat could be an option.

I agree with gingataff on the Rebel Yell. Although the Cold Sweat is a bright pickup, I've had an experience where it accentuated the wolly bottom end of a particular guitar.
The Rebel Yell was based on the Nailbomb apparently, it has less bass and is more hard rock than metal.

Thanks guys that's great.
And if I wanted something with a bit more poke to it what would you suggest? MM?

Hmm....have had a listen to some MM clips and it does sound good in basswood...

its probably tight enough to handle the jagstang scale length too

Thanks again. Leaning towards the MM at the moment.

Digging this one up as I need a last piece of advice.
My birthday is coming up and so I will be ordering a pickup for this guitar in the next couple of weeks.
Last question is, how do the Miracle Man and C-Bomb compare? Is the C-Bomb just an overwound Cold Sweat?
And what are the cleans like?
