just would like to introduce myself.
I hope im doing this in the right place.
my name is Keith i live in Mckinney TX in the US
I am 24 years old and have been playing on and off since i was 16.
I suck at actually playing guitar but been told i have an amazing ear for EQing.
im a huge gear nerd.
gear as of now is 4 guitars. 1 BC Rich Mockingbird 1 ESP viper. both are loaded with EMG's 85 in the BRIDGE and 81 in the neck both tuned to C standard.
1 custom guitar that is getting finished it will have 1 bridge pickup dimarzio PAF and tuned 1 full step down.
1 Takame acoustic.
1 4x12 celestion g12-t75 loaded cabnet that used to be a peavy cab.
and a broken peavy old school supreme 160 head.
all the rest has been sold to survive.
my reason here? to hopefully gain knowledge from other players and narrow down which BK pickup id like to try.

Hi there pal!! are you looking to change the pickups in all guitars, perhaps? And Welcome!

i guess i could have been a little better at my intro.. just didnt want to write alot to find out i posted it in the wrong section.
I will not be changing the 2 with EMG's. the 85 in the bridge cant be beat right now. well for metal that is.
The custom coming might be getting quite a few pickup swaps..i know that pickups can sound different from guitar to guitar so i do ALOT of research before i get one. i spent 5 months looking before i bought the PAF.
as i get older i am trying to incoporate more of a clean tone. problem is i play on only the bridge and HATE EMG's clean. im in the search for the perfect bridge pickup.
im looking for something kind of versatile. i know alot of things can depend on a guitar and its tones but i am planning on getting a balsy 2 channel amp and if i choose to play a "lighter" rock i will dial the gain back
my theory on amps is this.. a metal amp can be dialed back to a rock tone. but a rock amp can be dialed UP to a metal tone.
i dont like alot of bite with distortion like commonly found in metal. more of a blunter clear high tone with deep meaty bottom end and lower but not scooped mids.
clean tones. crystal clear but not to much bass or tingy shrills.
ive never played a seymour duncan i have liked. and trying to get away from active pickups.
in fluences at the moment include but not limited to: In Flames, Breaking Benjamin, and Fiver Finger Death Punch.
ok tried to be descriptive without rambling on...is there somewhere i can hear clips of bareknuckles?

Suck at guitar?
You're welcome to join my (non) exclusive club! :D
Edit: By the way, as far as 7s go I went from 707 -> Alnico Warpig when getting a new guitar. Um, night & day. Used to run a Sonic Maximiser in my rig which is no longer required. Unfortunately I can't afford to replace my other 707s right now! Pondering a C-Pig next time for more attack, but with a tight amp the Alnico fattens things out nicely.

ha ha i will keep that in mind. I hope i can make some sound clips and videos some days. most people dont explain their tuning's or settings. Ive attempted to come youtube.
i already believe i will love the clean on whatever i choose. havent really heard anything dirty im impressed with though...yet..
thanks everybody for the great welcoming and info.

ha ha. agreed. it just leaves the meat and fat on a sound in my opinion. i do at times wish the 85 had more "gain" or a touch of brighter top. but the 81 was to much.
looking for a medium with a good clean tone.
i struggle to understand why every demo in the world has to be a bluesy or rock lead. or a half ass attempt at "riffing"

It's up to you and whoever to change that state of affairs.
