Title: Just Had a Trip to Feline
Post by: andymac on December 10, 2009, 10:11:47 PM

To Have a look at my Lion.  Looking good, all it needs is a coat of paint and some knobs.  Plays extremely well, but I guess that is to be expected.  So looking forward to getting it home.

OMG - the BKP Crawler set in this guitar sound freaking awesome!

I have to use Crawlers more often  - they dont get enough exposure on here compared to some pickups.

Beautiful! That's gonna be a nice top when it's stained and the finish is applied.

Nice prints on the buckets on the top pic..;)

Nice, I always enjoy my trips down to Feline, not just for the great work they do on my guitars, but also to see the fantastic craftsmanship that goes into the guitars they build.  There are going to be some very happy Lion owners in the near future :)

Trans purple - going from a lilac tint through to a rich amethyst at the edges and a aubergine colour burst in on the rear

i know its all very zakk wylde, but looking at the recent images of unfinished Feline Lions does make me like that look

Yeah, kind of..... but I always think they'll look even better with the finish on.  Maple without a stain or a sunburst is a pretty boring colour.

gibson would call it a 'raw maple' and tell you its a stripped down rock machine for the REAL player.

mmm, always preferred les pauls with less bling bling tops to be honest...

edit: having said that... the feline aubergine burst sounds quite tasteful

I have to agree with gwEm on this one, a nice coating of beeswax to seal the wood and buffed to bring out the grain would look fabulous IMO  8)

Yeah, I didn't mean highly figured maple - I like the look of plaintop LPs too.  But they still need a bit of colour.

Actually, some of the best looking LPs have no wood grain showing at all - black or goldtop!  :)

Personally (if I was getting one built) I'd avoid the usual brown/red/amber/sunburst colours and go for blue, purple or green.  Nowhere near unique, but a bit unusual at least.

Affirmative. Only switch some for all.

I already have a green one, thought I'd go for something a bit different.

I quite like that look!  That's a Gibson in one of their short-lived colours, isn't it?

Yep Gecko.  Nobody seemed to like them so they were about £200 cheaper at the time.  It does seem to vary from guitar to guitar.  Obviously I like mine, but I have seen some that look a little strange.
