Title: Modulation FX
Post by: MrBump on December 13, 2009, 08:54:36 PM
What do we all use?

I used to use lots of DSP fx modellers, but I'm more of an analogue guy now.  I've always used chorus pedals, and have an EH one now, which is OK, but not particulary sophisticated.

I'm now thinking about other modulation effects, phasers, flangers and the like.  I was thinking about a vibe pedal a short time ago, but I'm now thinking that that particular pedal is a bit too much of a one trick pony for me to have on my embarrasingly small board.

Mark.

Edit - just seen this, and it's dead cool.  Actually love that guitar he's playing.

Is he losing his hair a little?

I have that MXR Van Halen phaser, I like it.

OTher than that I've used pedals that do modulation, but aren't considered modulation, like the Digitech X-Series Delay (does a Modulation Delay) and now the EH Cathedral Reverb, which has a quite cool Reverb/Flanger mix sound available.

I've got:

MXR EVH Phaser
Tonerider SuperLush Chorus

Might have to look at getting a flanger at some point....

Is he losing his hair a little?

It's the Curse of Facebook again.

Sorry I've nothing useful to say about modulation FX!

Edit:  I think I've got a DOD flanger which I picked up because it was very cheap.  Don't know how to use it though.

I have a Mini Deja Vibe which I really like.  It is a bit of a one trick pony but it's a trick of which I am very fond.  It's probably my favourite pedal in fact.  I also have a Phase 90 (the regular one not the fancy script logo one) and I like that a lot too.  Both pedals are built solidly, have great sounds and have thus far been completely reliable.

I have a delay that falls in the category 'very rarely use it but when I need it, I NEED it'.

I've got:
Tonerider SuperLush Chorus

+1, plus i've got a biyang phaser (copy of mxr phase 100, i think? except it claims to be true bypass) and daphon flanger (which is actually alright, especially considering i paid about £20 for it).

like most things, i don't use them all that much, but just enough to feel like i need them...

A subtle use of a phaser and some wah can sound good. A bit like The Stone Roses sound.

Just bought their Phaser, a Script 90 clone with more versatility. Their Chorus is said to be awesome. You have any clips?
