Title: Thinline build, which BKP for me?
Post by: zygoat on December 15, 2009, 03:35:19 PM
I recently put a Nailbomb into my Caparison and the quality of this pickup blows me away.  I think I want to try some more BKP in my future build.  I'm going to be putting a telecaster Thinline together in the near future.  The body is ash (thinlines are semihollow) and the neck and fingerboard are all rosewood.  I'm thinking the rosewood might tame the high end a bit but I love the way it feels.
I'm trying to find out which tele pickup set will give me the most clarity and brilliance.  I'm not looking for anything too hot, more vintage voiced would be better for me.

Thanks!
Eric

Sounds like an interesting project.  I like Thinline Teles and I have a couple of chambered Warmoth Tele bodies which (hopefully) I'll get round to using in the next few months.

I'm not sure what effect the solid rosewood neck will have.... we had a thread recently with a rosewood neck Strat demo, it seemed to sound fatter than a typical Strat, almost more of a Gibsonish tone.

If you're after a bright vintage Tele set, I'd guess Country Boys or maybe the Blackguard '55 set, which doesn't seem to get mentioned much.  But I haven't tried either, I'm afraid.

Welcome to the forum, by the way!  :D

I am not the biggest expert on BKP Tele offerings, but I'd go for a relatively low-output set in a Thinline, especially with the rosewood neck.
