I need pickup for my ’80 styled superstrats. Specs:
- Alder body
- Maple neck and rosewood fretboard
- Orig. Floyd
- Bridge pickup only
I’m looking for Jake Lee (Ozzy-era) and George Lynch (Dokken-era) styled sound.
My amps are Marshall JCM800 and 1959HW. Both of them are modified – JCM800 for more aggressive ’80- high gain and 1959 for vintage-styled high gain (EVH).
I have Holy Diver set in my SL-2H Soloist and Painkiller(b)/Cold Sweat(n) set in my KV-2, so with this new strat I would like to try something else… RY, NB, VHII or ???
Thanks!

I was about to say Holy Diver then read the bit where you said you wanted something else :) but it is a great match for that guitar.
NB sounds really good in that spec of guitar, though I'm not sure it really covers the sounds you want. I have no experience of the VHII bridge & have only very briefly tried the RY in a LP, so I won't comment on those.
Here's a left-field suggestion though, the old-spec ceramic Holy Diver sounds very George Lynch. Can't really describe it in words, but when I play lead, there's something in it that makes me think "god, that's soooo George Lynch" :) I guess because he used the Duncan Distortion in his pre-Screamin' Demon days & it's very similar to the DD in its midrange push & power, just a bit clearer though :) I believe that BKP will still make the old HD if you ask nicely...

Good advice there...
I would agree, you need an old spec Holy Diver.
Just ask Tim and ye shall receive... :P

Thanks Antag and Afghan Dave!
Old-spec HD was my no. 1 choice and I even tried to order it last week. My friend (BKP-importer here in Finland) called to Tim and ask him that is it possible to get “old HD”. Tim told him that old-spec HD is same as current Cold Sweat!!! I wonder could it be so? I thought that old HD would be something between current HD and CS...
After that I wasn’t sure any more that is old HD right for me, because I have tried CS (bridge) in LP Custom once and it was SO bright.

OK, at the risk of making a fool of myself (anyone correct me if you know better please): NO WAY is the old-HD the same as the CS.
I have both pickups (although I've never had them both in the same guitar) - yes, the old HD has a lot of the CS' ceramic tightness & similar level of power, but it has much more mids & less low end. To my ears it is somewhere between CS & new HD, probably closer to CS but it kinda combines the good points of both of them :)
Also, the CS already existed before the HD was re-specced to it's current Alnico form (early 2006 IIRC? It was around the time I joined this forum...) so unless BKP offered the same pickup with two different names on it (which I doubt), it can't be the same.
Anyway, sorry you can't get one :(

That's true! Maybe I got to send him email and ask about this "old-HD"-thing.
