Title: repotting pickups
Post by: earworm on December 24, 2009, 09:38:48 PM
I bought a set of alnico warpigs a long time ago, I never really liked them to much and I think the neck was microphonic since it always squealed. Is there a way I can send it back to get repotted or something, I still have the case and everything.

They've just been sitting around for a few years now and Im not sure what to do with them since the neck pickup doesn't quite sound right Im not to keen on selling it. Good pickups just not what I was lookin for. I think I just prefer ceramic pickups.

send them to the shop .. add a letter saying what you think is wrong and if they can take a look.. label it properly and call tim in advance, that they're inbound... and while you're at it, tell him to swap the magnets.. the piggy is a whole nother beast, once it has the ceramic underneath

Contact Tim and return it for repotting - and ask him to swap the magnet to a ceramic one - you may be pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds.

hmm ok I'll see what he says thanks.

How do you think the ceramic warpig will sound in an alder 7 string with drop A tuning?  I was thinking of getting the new painkiller for it, I definitely want tight and crunchy and not too much bass. I figured out I don't like bass heavy pickups, my amp has tons of if. I don't like round sounding pickups also, lookin for an syl meets fear factory type tone.
