Title: Pedal snake
Post by: Gary on November 19, 2005, 09:21:38 PM
Anyone heard of or tried one of these?

http://www.pedalsnake.com/

I've been using one for the past year and I'm very happy with it (useful on a crowded stage) but I'd be interested in anyone else's experiences or opinions.

I'be heard and read about them before, but haven't used 1 myself.

How much did you pay for yours? Just out of interest :)

Charlie Chandler tried to sell me one a couple of years ago - I wasn't convinced that sending your audio down a cable that's also sending power was a great idea!

Mine cost £55 plus the customs charge when it arrived in the UK (I think somewhere between £10 and £15).

The power and audio going down the same cable was my main concern but after numerous e-mails I decided to give it a try and there's no problem with noise (I'm using a Dunlop Brick on the pedal board). Maybe it's because it's not mains power going down it but I'm no expert.

It's actually a lot simpler - The pedal snake stays connected to the pedal board and just coils up on top of it when it goes in the case. The only things to disconnect are two jack plugs at the amp end and the power connection. Much better than having a power cable, an audio cable and a foot switch cable all over the stage.

I don't think it would be worth getting one for home or studio but they're great for live work.
