Well I was going to buy and fit a set of Fender Ltd edition Abigail Ybarra P/ups to my Hank B Marvin Strat but at nearly £500 unsurprisingly I decided not too. So I have just fitted my new set of Apaches to replace the CS54's that were on it and I am more than pleased. They arrived on Thursday, I fitted them on Friday and did a quick recording (posted with this message) and gigged on Saturday night with Brian "Licorice" Locking (Ex Shadows bass player) Everyone was blown away by the sound. Used my old 60's AC30 and my trusty Alesis Q20 echo unit. A fantastic sound.
May well order a second set to fit to my spare.

Hey man Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for the clip - they sound great (of course!). I also really like your style - you'll find its a lot different from most of the people in the forum. Nice to hear what you can do with them!

Awesome tone and playing. Its really good to hear different styles and tones coming through on the forum. Please keep posting clips.

That sounded spot on! Did you mic up and use the Alesis after the recording, or run the Alesis through the amp while recording?
Didn't Licorice Locking play with Marty Wilde and earlier Lonnie Donegan too?? My early skiffle/r 'n' r histories a bit rusty!
One last question - do you use the Echoes of the past mod on the Alesis?
-
A-W-E-S-O-M-E :D
Is that the bridge pickup?
-
Great clip - had to stop myself getting up and doing the Shadows Walk :D

Thanks everyonen for your kind comments. Answers to questions:
Yes I was using the bridge Pickup
My Alesis is programmed with the Echoes From The Past (EFTP) echoes
The guitar goes through that and then the Q20 to the input on the amp
I use a Vox Cambridge 15 or AD15VT for recording and D/I straight into the PC via the mic input. I use Cool Edit Pro for recording and no post recording FX were added. I sometimes mic up the AC30 for recording but find the results a bit hit and miss.
Licorice Locking did play with Marty Wilde with his band The Wild Cats which later went on to be The Krew Cats. Not sure if he ever played with Lonnie Donegan but will ask him as I am doing another gig with him on Dec. 4th

Very nice- great sound. I share your love for the Apache's. They just seem to get better- it is perhaps too early for you to comment.
