Spot on Philly . 8)

my guess is that Slash's new Marshall will be some kind of variation on the Vintage Modern amp which Slash used on much of the last VR album.

A VM Channel 1 and a 2555 Channel 2 with a built in Boss DD-2 would be a pretty awesome amp!!
-
Wow, thats an Exciting Line up!!!!
-
Slash 15w solid state practise amp?
-
Slash 15w solid state practise amp?
unlikely.
They covered this segment with Mustaine already.
-
That's not very exciting at all....
-
The AFD 100. There's supposed to be a dedicated website www.afd100.com but it goes to bog std Marshall site at the moment.
-
Yeah just also found it here: http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/namm-2010-slash-unveils-new-marshall-afd100-amplifier-233012

Now it goes to the right place, looks like they were a tinsy bit behind the announcement getting it sorted.
It's more of an announcement that they're going to make an amp than anything about the amp itself.
-
Is this exciting?
Doesn't seem so to me..
Should this be exciting? :?

No.
Given the best they (Marshall) can come up with is a Mega practice amp and an announcement about a non-existent amp (as yet) then I don't think it's anything to be straining one's wrist over.
It's about as exciting as me saying I'm planning on doing a very large poo on Tuesday, and that I plan on reading the new Guitarist whilst I do it, as it means I'll have something to wipe my arse on! Lets face it, it's about as much use as Guitarist is these days. If only they'd put a picture of that tw@t Simon Bradley in it so I could also get the satisfaction of rubbing his face in my post prandial (I'm Welsh, where on earth do I come up with these English words from) curry discharge.
-
I'm f**king STOKED about the MEGASTACK!!
If AFD were to be recorded now I'm sure Slash would use a MEGASTACK... Technology moves on and Marshall apply all the knowlege of the past to create the MEGASTACK...
I've heard that superstar guitarists claim that a new marshall "sounds totally slamming, the overdrive is crushing"
:?

Atreyu? ATREYU?
do those guys play guitars?
-
Atreyu? ATREYU?
Stop sneezing.

Hey where is the love for the major British manufacturer here? They (as opposed to many other makers) have their labour still from UK.
But yeah it's just a PR shamble at the moment. Let's wait and see what kind of amp they'll be able to build.
-
what a really useful website..full of......nothing!

Its very mechanised in there, the handwired series is a bit more like UK labour.

i quite like marshall - they still make good stuff from time to time, the offical spares are quite reasonably priced, and they are always very helpful on the phone.
it depends on the price of course, but the AFD100 does sound very interesting

Well there's only so much chipboard and cheap PCB's we can take...
Seriously, they seem to have a lot of models nowadays, it's hard to keep up. Marshall have a great heritage and it's good they are still huge but if I wanted a classic Marshall I'd get somebody to build it for me!
-
Taking his stupid hat and sunglasses off?
that's not even half as bad as John 5

Was that at me?

What would we do without you Shob.
You give Stephen Fry a run for his money in the eloquent use of the English language
Always brightens up my day

Aside from the tour, it's interesting how Paul Marshall refers to his dad as Mr Marshall, rather than Jim, or Dad... bit strange to me!
-
yeah I noticed that.. Calling your dad Mr Marshall?
He must have been beaten as a child, obviously the only rational explaination. :?
-
but if you worked there i dunno, i wouldnt really need reminding of who the owners dad is.
I worked with a guy at a company which is dad owned, and he didnt refer to the owner as dad, he used Mr.
I think it can be a workplace thing. i dont think its weird or reflective of the type of relationship they had.
-
No, there is obviously a history of abuse and I can't ignore the warning signs... I'm gonna call the NSPCC.

Maybe Jim Marshall refers to himself in the 3rd person ?
-
Wouldn't it be cool if Jim had a hand puppet that actually ran the company...

Was that at me?
not at all! i was just happy to guess it was an AFD amp early in the thread before the announcement
-

"cheap" PCBs?
All considered, you pay a lot for a Marshall PCB amp.
-
I think he means the PCBs are cheap, but not the amps ;)
-
Anyone else following the blog?
I've not been but I've just read it and watched the clips. Quite interesting!
