topic.
I know the Holydiver is the "closest" to the SH4. But if you imagine a SH4 with more THICKNESS but also more :
- balls
- tightness
- agressivity
what BKP could it be ? still the HD ? what else ?
Thanks 8)

Don't take this the wrong way, but I hate these kind of comments. Makes it sound like the HD is a cheap knock-off of the JB. In reality it doesn't sound "like" the JB at all.
FWIW, I think the answer to your question is still HD (on all 4 counts, at least that was my experience in both the guitars where I replaced the SH4 with a Holy Diver) although you could easily advance an argument for any of the "Contempory" BKPs... :)

Hi thanks for the input Antag, I was expecting you there !
I can remember Tim saying the closest to the JB in the BKP range is the HD. But, of course, I couldn't imagine it to be 'like' a SH4. Or maybe something like an improved 'old' JB.
Looking at what you said about the improvement the HD gave you when you replaced the JB of your jacksons, (especially the RR1 as far as I can remember) I know the HD could (or should) be what I'm looking for.
In the modern range I wouldn't consider the ceramic CS, PK MM though.
I am considering the HD first but also wanted to be sure about how those WP, NB or CR, can compare in the 4 counts I described or if the HD remains the best choice.

If you want even more aggression The Nailbomb is a safe bet, depends what guitar/woods we are talking about though.

the nailbomb is no near as middy
maybe an overwound rebel yell
I think that would sound a lot like a holy diver anyway
I've heard a comparison of the jb and alnico pig in the same guitar and the pig was a nice improvement, imo
not the best amp to compare pickups (a krankenstein), but you can notice the difference

It's funny Antaq says the HD doesn't sound like the JB "at all", because when I replaced my JB in my baritone with the HD my first impression was "wow, these are similar". The HD has a bit more balanced frequency curve (not as ice-picky) and is overall clearer.
