Straight Marshall Cab with 4xRola Grey Back 25 Watts, 16Ohm
A friend of mine kindly pointed me in direction of this one, he's got a slant '73 with 55Hz cones, now I got the straight with 75Hzs. Casket codes are all from two consecutive days in 1973, cones look old but in good shape. No cone stamps as it is correct for this time and speaker type.
Anyone else got some GreyBack Rolas?
It sounds damn nice, a bit different than the 55Hz, but very nice, lots of crunch and usable treble, and non-boomy depth and bottom end.

pretty

Lousy rig, send it to me for disposal!
Looks great, how much did you get the cab for? I'm looking for an oldish Marshall cab to use with my JTM.

Sure, will do
For one of these with original cones and good condition you should look at about 600 GBP.

Wel it may be a while, but that one sure does look in great condition! And I suppose the amp isn't too shabby either!

Nah, shabby isn't what I'd call it :)

I was looking for an XTC over here last year when I was looking for a new amp but I could not even get to look at one let alone actually try one. They're supposed to be seriously loud .... do you gig yours? Do you use an attenuator?

Nice cab - I use creamback 55Hz G12H-30s in my 4x12. Its the cab that everyone who hears it says makes any amp sound better.

I had a '73 Marshall 4x12 that I loaded with Pre-Rola '003' G12M 25w'ers.. was a real nice cab!

Nice one HTH, playing one of these you describe made me actually start looking for vintage cabs. It didn't have any appeal to me until I played one myself - there's nothing like it!!!

some cabs just have 'it', other will never have 'it' - its the resonance. I'm also a firm believer of ply back-panels rather than particle board; it tightens/focuses the bass.

This may seem an heretical view point to Marshall nutters, but actually think that the checkerboard is the best looking grill cloth Marshall used.
The straight front cabs are actually harder to find than the slant front, I expect because if you only bought the one cab you would go with the slant front.

agree :)
cool cab hunter!

I like the pinstripe cabs best, then basketweave, then chequerboard, then black - in the order they were released as it happens. Pity that the only 100% accurate pinstripe cloth around at the minute costs more than a set of BKPs.

Unfortunately the pinstripe isn't that durable, and it's very rare to see a genuine 60's Marshall without tears in the grille cloth.
