I sleep like a complete rock and sometimes I even sleep through 2 alarms and radio, so I've got one of those fancy Philips wake up lights, those who don't know what it is, it basically emulates the sun by fading in a light over 30 minutes and plays birdie noises to wake you up in a more natural way than some sudden and annoying buzzer
so tomorrow I'll find out if it's worth what I paid for it :D
couldn't find a single bad review of the thing either, but they ain't me and I'm probably the ultimate test!
video someone did of the old model on demo mode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFeEEiEZHVI

Sounds far too relaxing, if normal alarms don't work I reckon you'll be blissfully unaware of this one doing anything!
A friend of mine has an alarm with motorised wheels on it. The idea is when you hit the snooze button, it falls on the floor and rolls around, gradually getting louder, so you have to get out of bed to go and find it to switch it off.
Don't know if it actually works though, she couldn't figure out how to set it.....

Perhaps the light helps... sounds don't bugs me much when I'm sleeping, but the light does a lot

Those clocks are brilliant. Makes sense, think how early you wake up and how bright you are in the morning if you go camping and the sun wakes you up.

Bright? If I woke up and found myself in some poxy tent I'd be $%ing mortified.

Well said... I don't DO tents!!

 me neither
and if i heard birds i'd probably start thinking there were birds flying round my room or something and start trying to avoid them in my sleep.

Campin's great, ya southern poofs.

i'm from NI. the country where we sell 5 million baseball bats a year (probably) and not a single baseball or baseball glove.

What's an aarm clock?

And who hadn't posted when I was writing my reply.

I would say if I wanted to be woken by the sun I'd leave the curtains open....
....but in fact my bedroom window is directly opposite the kitchen belonging to the crazies next door, so I'd be kept awake all night because the loony $%ers never switch the light off. :|

that's a lot of baseball bats consider the NI population is 1.775 million
-
Great clock- what is the tone like?
-
Great idea, sunlight is the best way for me to wake up. Let us know how it works in practice!
-
I don't need an alarm any more. I used to sleep like I was in a coma years ago but not any more. PDT_022
I hope it works!

it took you one minute and 16 seconds to write that?

i guess they break. Presumably they're not designed to stand up to the kind of, er, rigorous use they get put through here.
also i made up the statistic. 47% of statistics are made up, lies, damned lies and statistics and all that.
and thanks for pointing out the population of my country. I had no idea what it was. Really.

my roommate has an alarm clock that is a little rocket that counts down and then it shoots the projectile across the room and will not turn off until the rocket is put back on the pad.

Yep same here only it's the neighbours outside light that shines right through the fabric of my curtains. Why do some people feel the need to illuminate their garden with what equates to a hundred search lights?
Normally when I do sleep (rarely) I sleep like a rock and only physical abuse wakes me up...eventually.
-
Nope, I'm biting my lip and not taking the bait. $%ing hell it's hard though.

Point it out the window one evening when you know you are staying out!

When camping, it's usually the onset of hypothermia that wakes me up. ( A regular occurance in the U.K. during August ).
