:(
Been diagnosed with tendonitis of the upper arm and advised to refrain from playing whilst it settles down over the next week or so which I will do. I'm hardly a three hours a day shredder more a half an hour a day man so its not a result of anything I've done guitar wise as I am also quite particular about posture, avoiding strains etc
Anyone with any experiences they wish to share?
Thanks David

I have had some issues myself with nerve/tendon impingement which is similarly uncomfortable
I would recommend Arnica gel which can be got from Holland and Barratt or another health food store
I find the Vogel brand to be good
Apply it to the area - works well as an anti-inflammatory and may aid the recovery in the affected area

The main thing is that you've recognised it early so it's all about rest and a gentle come back. You'll be fine.

I've had issues in the past from lifting stuff at work.
I found wearing a tubigrip support bandage when I slept and most of the day helped it recover quicker

David,
I've had years of mechanical problems which are now settling nicely and reading your post made me wonder if a trip to a good physiotherapist would be an idea just in case there is a mechanical issue causing the tendonitis. As you've mentioned that you're careful about posture and so on it's perhaps unlikely that it's something you're doing wrong (at least consciously) so why not get a good diagnostic to make sure that the tendonitis is not a secondary rather than primary issue?
Mike.

a big thank you everyone for your helpful advice and kind support
I will rest but will return
perhaps in the meantime I might do something else to satisfy my musical cravings, maybe I'll take singing lessons?
regards David
