Title: Speaker recommendation
Post by: Alex on February 19, 2010, 11:49:08 AM
Hi

I've had some experience with speakers, but mostly "loud" and "high-power" speakers which need to be pushed to sound good, such as the Celestion V30.

Which speaker would you recommend that sounds very nice on lower volumes and if not pushed a lot by the amp?
I think the sensitivity rating is key here, but I'm not sure.
Also, woudl 10" speakers behave very differently from a 12" speaker in that respect?

the Celestion G12M-25 (aka, Greenback) breaks up quite easily - you might also look into the G12M-20 (20w version) which may be even better in this respect for your needs.

The Tayden Retro would be a good one to look at, similarly priced to the celestions, but much better quality (IMHO)

sorry for the hijack but i was about to start a similar topic... how do you compare V60s to V30s? if greenbacks break up easily does it mean that they buzz loosely if pushed hard or they keep a good definition?
