Very nice!  Good to see a '59 get to the UK with a decent flame top!

Thanks everyone, glad you like.  Buying it was a pure Wayne's World moment - I walked into Vintage and Rare in Bath and it was on the wall directly in front of me.  I shouted "Excalibur!  It waits for me!"   The shop assistants chuckled and agreed to take my old Lester as part exchange.  A quick raid of my life savings later and it was mine.  Oh yes. It was mine.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I also knobbed Tia Carrera the same day. Sigh....one can dream.

And no, I didn't play Stairway.  I played Cheap Sunglasses and Freddie King's version of It Hurts Me Too.  If I can make them sound good it must be that the guitar is some kind of conduit into a parallel reality.

That's a beauty!  :D

What with this and Twinfan's recent acquisition, I am starting to get serious LP GAS... but I know they're not for me so I can resist.

I had GAS for the stunning Pearly Gates that Twinfan bought a couple of months ago, but not enough bottle to go to Coda and buy it.  Twinfan gets the Wayne's World "we're not worthy" from me as he clearly has exquisite taste and very large cojones.

Well yes!!  I took a bit of a financial risk buying mine, i.e. knocking a big dent in my personal safety cushion - I now have much less money to fall back on if there's a rainy day.  You know what?  I'm much happier.  It might never rain, but every day I get to play a guitar with the greatest tone that I have ever heard.  Skintness is no problem, letting the joys of life pass by is.  Not just a guitar purchase, a new freedom in my thinking.  Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law....

Has that nice Mr. Crowley still got the guitar dealership then ?

I suspect that if there is another B.K.P. get together ;   it will turn into a " Bring your own Les Paul " party ...  :guitar4:

'Diamond Geezers' such as yourself, should get in the 'V.I.P' door carrying any variant !  :)

I'd had my eye on it for about two months. 59's are hanging around longer than they used to - maybe it is a recession after all.  I was delighted when you took the plunge and shared it with us all, you inspired me to go for it with my own. Thanks for your compliment about mine, I hope you understand how much I like Francine.  Is there such a thing as wife swapping with guitars?  That's probably way too kinky.  A forum-based mutual admiration society is good enough for me.

Looks great! It's the lightness on the darker part of the burst that I wish my LP was more like :)

Cheers man, that lightness thing is very simple - it's an iced tea burst, not a cherry.  It was a cherry burst standard that I chopped-in for this one. Great finish, but the iced tea has a lovely fade to it.  The tone is the main thing though.  The fat neck, long tenon and chunky body make all the difference.  I'm really interested in the concept of buying a much cheaper Les Paul Traditional with the 50's neck and putting a set of AII Mules in.  It could be very close to the 59 tone for a fraction of the price.
