He's always been a bit, erm, individual, but it looks like Phil X has finally cracked.  :D

I have a guitar teacher who has a similar sunny disposition, high energy level (if less manic than Phil X of course), huge talent and a permanent smile.  I wanted to get to the core of this, so I did a quick psychological profile of him:

"Ever had a real job?" - "Well, only working for a guitar magazine.  Other than that I've worked in guitar shops, as a professional touring guitarist and as a guitar teacher"

"Married?" - "No, multiple casual partners.  Lots of ladies hanging around at my gigs"

"Mortgage?" - "What's that?"

"So, never really strayed too far from the path, have you mate?" - "Nah, it's just been guitar ever since school and at all times thereafter".

This "mania" or "mental illness" has a name.  It's called HAPPY.

You could be right.... but it's impossible for me to understand because I'm a natural miserabilist.

Yes, but as my ( rather jolly ) Dad used to say :

" There's a difference between breaking wind - and tearing your bum ".

Hang on, just checked out Phil X's website - he's in a band called Powder.  Maybe a clue to how to get into that Phil X zone?

 This one I liked, he looked more "natural" than "I'm the master" on the usual clips

I was just thinking it's really nice to see someone on Youtube actually looking like they enjoy playing for a change.

I like this guy, he's not afraid of making $%&# ups and I think his enthusiasm is good. He's obviously doing a job he loves. I envy him in that respect.

That is still one sweet guitar.

The only acoustic on my wishlist is the discontinued Gretsch Rancher with Bigsby.

Wow !  :D

I love the cool yet elegant look of that ;  a real design classic.  The opulent neck inlays ,  sound hole shape ( well everything actually ) just seem to scream "Quality".  I imagine it is great for Old School , raw acoustic playing - and that wonderfully subtle neck pickup, to big it up. On that guitar, the Bigsby is ideal, and the red/gold scheme is especially delightful, as they are two colours that ( until you posted that photo )  I would never have though of liking.  even the pick guard and cutaway are perfect !   8)

Yeh ...... I agree. Always enjoy his clips. Wish I could get my hands on some of the guitars he has played.

Say what you want, but I think philx is spot on.  Always enjoys himself, loves to answer questions on the comments section, loves playing songs & talking about them

I'd love to be that happy
