Wow, that's incredible! (both the looks and the price!)

So many great, detailed pictures of it too :)

Boo, didn't sell :( My guess is that the reserve was at $200,000 maybe?

I'm not too surprised that this didn't meet the reserve and I'm more shocked it's even on the bay! For a '59 that supposedly has no mods, no damage and in that condition I would have thought there were a few dealers/ better channels out there who could have sold this without the need for such a superb and rare guitar being listed on Sh!te Bay. Ah well, I'll wait for it to be re-listed before I bid $200,001

I'm sure Dave is ( almost ) fully sated with his notorious 'Bladderburst' Les Paul :

" It sounds good , because it smells good ;  Texas urea is good for your ear " .  :)

Mercy ...  8)

What will be the chance that that guitar will ever see a stage?

Such a shame those guitars are so overpriced and will never be used for what they're made for.

Not quite in mint condition is it? In fact, it looks like it's been dragged behind a truck. Still, it does at least look like it's had some use in its life, unlike, as Ratrod says, many guitars like it.

Can't make my mind up about how I feel about vintage guitars tbh. Sometimes I think it'd be really nice to have something old and interesting, and every vintage guitar I've played - a '73 LP Custom, '66 Fender Tele and a '56 Strat - has sounded fantastic. However, apart from the LP after a refret, none of them felt as good to play as a modern version, and they're so damned expensive!

i like vintage guitars and would snap a few more up if i had the coin.. feels amazing to play something like that, even if its not perfect. the history of an instrument gives great mojo - and Gibson still knew how to make great pickups until the late 80s when they discontinued the dirty fingers. even my 90s epiphone has some of that vintage feeling.

I wish I hadn't put that $199,999 reserve on it.

The relisting fees will be horrendous.  :x

I'm not usually a fan, but that looks lovely.

Didn't make the reserve though...

I'll list it again next week - I think Ebay has a deal on.

If it's a real '59, I don't think eBay is the best place to put it... But WHAT do I know about things with that price tag??

For that price I can get 20 1958-'60 Gretsch 6120's.

Its a shame it hasn't got the VOS finish or been plek'd. Maybe the seller should send it to Tom Murphy first

You might want a car too.

So.....a nice place to live, a brand new Mustang and 5 vintage Gretsches.
