I just stumbled (accidentally) upon a China wholesale website called called tootoomart.com (yeah, I laughed at the name too). What I didn't laugh at was what I found on there......
http://www.tootoomart.com/product-2837527-+GIBSON+LES+PAUL+black+custom+3+pick-ups+with+box+or+belt+picks-free+shipping/
I just about choked when I saw the prices.......has anybody ever purchased anything from here? Are these just cheap ripoffs/shoddy re-manufacture jobs/scratch n dents? Or are these decent axes? Seems too good to be true, but it doesn't hurt to ask....

That's a fake. Fretboard is the wrong material. Should be Ebony.

They are "top notch kit" simply cutting out the middleman...
I will buy one of these with part of the money a Nigerian General is transfering into my bank account!
It's alway best to buy with confidence in such situations, it's not like there are many copies for sale on such sites.. :? :P

Hmmm, looks a bit dickie to me!
"it is inevitable that there will be some blemish on the guitars. When selling this kind of guitars, you can transform this disadvantage to advantage, you could tell your customer that every guitar has its unique outside and tone colour"
Genius!

Yeah, I noticed that bit of "rationalizing" (hence the question about shoddy re-manufactures). Must admit though, I'm a bit embarrassed about not noticing the rosewood board at first glance (hides face in shame) Guess I'll keep hoping for a large inheritance or a rich old biddy to marry.....lol!

Fakes by a mile. However I've no idea what they play sound like.

Well, according to the feedback they are good indeed. Strangely all of the feedback is from people who have only ever bought from that particular trader

Did a little research.......the claim is that they are "real" Gibsons, Fenders, etc. Supposedly all parts are imported from overseas (U.S.?) They claim that they are then assembled in their "Chinese factories" to cut labor costs. I've heard of outsourcing, but is anyone else tempted to call BS?

Just have a proper look at the logo on the headstock

^ ^ there's no need to call it. it is bullshitee (i didn't even have to click the link).
I have a rule about buying guitars from china. It's that I don't buy guitars from china.

Our bassplayer prefers his Chinese-made Farida Jazzbass over his Fender USA Jazzbass, bec the neck is easier to play and I must say this bass sounds quite good, even with stockpickups. The London City tele's and strats are actually a good value as a startersguitar. But these Gibson-fakes should be banned from the market.

Beware though. A Dutch guitar store had one of those white Billy Bo copies for sale. Some guy traded in or wanted to sell it through them. This one was modded with actual Gretsch hardware.
I gave them a heads up and they've contacted the original owner. The only things that gave it away were the body shape that was a bit off and the non-floating bridge.
The price was 1500 Euro while it wouldn't be worth more than 500, including the mods.

according to Norton this site contains known shopping risks :?

My favorite part is where it says a few times that they are made in china and then the back of the headstock says MADE IN USA. Yeah, I'd stay clear. Even if you did actually receive it, it would prolly sound like cr@p, be made out of cr@p wood and have zero sustain/resonance. Then again, if you put EMGs in it.....
