howdy.
so i got bored the other day, and picked up a used super strat body from evilbay, h-s-h configuration.
the research i've done would suggest a calibrtated set of nailbombs would be the go, and possibly an irish tour in the middle just to mix things up a bit.
the problem i have is the middle pup rout is angled, like that of a strat bridge pup.
so how would this affect my selection of a single coil?

hi picador, don't see why the angle should make a difference in a negative way.I love the IT pups as the only bkp's
i have experience of, but would rarely select postion 3 as a single. As you'll have humbuckers in the other positions your tone will be more heavily influenced by them in positions 2&4 and the pure IT character as i know it will be lost.
there's no reason it can't sound great though in it's own right especially if you choose nice humbuckers.i think there's some higher out put s/c pups(sinner?) which may suit humbuckers in H S H configuration better

Yer, I think maybe the Irish Tour would get a bit drowned out with humbuckers. In my HSH guitar i'm using a sinner SC(with the standard baseplate) in the middle position and it's really thick compared with other s/c's (in a good way though). It's lower than my bridge pickup (Miracle Man) and it's still more or less the same volume.

cheers for the reply guys.
very helpful insight.
yeah the sinner was what i was leaning towards originally, but read somewhere on here that somebody said they had gone for the irish tour in mid position. sounded funny to me, thought i'd ask anyway.
i do like the sound of the sinner being thick in the mid position rocklobster. :D
so given that the middle pickup rout is angled, when ordering, would i ask for middle or bridge pickup?
