I presume that's only with the Pig 90 - and Warpig ?

Sorry guys, they've had to abandon that one - Hamburglar stole the blueprints.

Yes; but they were going to discontinue that prototype any way - it was crackling. They never went the 'full hog'.
-
I guess there will be. Look for some references on the forum, mention of strat sets, and of course theres still the BKP vintage strat trem which will all know about, but stays unadvertised. So there is at least those, and I bet Tim has more up his sleeve.
-
They'll all be listed on the new website! (if we live long enough)

That's me, Jon, Andy, Derek, Steve, Choucas etc out.
Maybe they'll have t'internet in the afterlife and we can enjoy it there.

Hi !
if you haven't been there for a while have look to the player section to hear from the "aftermath" custom humbucker made for MDV i think.
Take a Painkiller, take C Bomb, and add "something" more :D
Not sure if tim will make a regular production of this one though...
-
Ahhhhhh sit, now i realized my typping errorS
DAMN
i was so sleepy . Q: /
i wrote GAING ahahahah almost GANG
HIgh GANG HUMBUCKERS!
Q: P
My fault. sorry.
i was willing to have a pickup that could have the Hottness and articulation of the painkiller on the highs section .
Something different form the warpig, miracle man and nailbomb on the Middle department. in fact, something CRUSHING. A crushe Ammount and Voicing for Middles
And, Tight and deep Middle Bassy frequencies.
Also, a little bit of Bass too.
Eq Wise it would be 6, 7, 8 - Bass, middle , Treble.
outputwise speaking. the same ammount of output from a nailbom is OK for me. maybe 1k more .
Magnet? Timīs Choice.
i dont mind.
Overal Voicing? Crushing Middles, Tight and Focused Bass, and Open, Airy , Singing Highs.
is it already done?

There are several experimental sets that Tim is working on that may come to light. However ones that people have heard about and are available through the web site (with additional comments to get the right set), are:
62 Strat Set - more SRV than the Irish Tours - AV 6.2K/5.5K/5.5K
69 Strat Set - David Gilmour meets Bare Knuckle - AV 13K.5.6K/5.6K
Black Guard Flat 50 New Wind - Nocaster sound, different neck pu - great blues sound - AV 10K/7.5K
T-Top Humbucker - just got these and have fitted them to my Zemaitis Metal Front clone, initial impression is that I really like them, they're like an agressive Stormy Monday! AV 7.6K/7.2K
50's P-Bass - original single coil pickup
I'm not sure if all of these will see the light of day, but they are around if you want to get something new.

AGHH!!!
Phil, this is the most GAS inducing post I have read on any forum for the last year or two...
I've heard of at least half of these pickups in passing, but seeing them all in one post, described in that way... it's just... its... sigh...
It's not just the pickups themselves... it's the guitars I'll have to buy to put them in
-
Hi Andy, I did forget to mention that the neck pickup in the BG Flat 50 New Wind is also different. After playing the T-Tops yesterday, they are great, they have a big open rock sound, think 70's. I strung the guitar with 50,40,30,17,13,11 and they have a huge bottom end which I wasn't expecting but sounds fantastic with the JTM45/Ear Candy combination.

And this extra post is just plain cruel
- especially as it's probably the T-Tops that sparked the most interest as I was reading...
It's probably not helping the OP, JP666 though - these experimental ones all seem to be catering for someone with more "vintage" tastes.

Hi Andy, I did forget to mention that the neck pickup in the BG Flat 50 New Wind is also different.
Is this replacing the existing BG50 set, or an alternative?
I hope Tim comes up with names for these new sets, they're going to be confusing if they stay as they are....

An alternative. I like them but these are in a '62 mij Tele custom with a left handed bridge and my bg 50 flats are in my 57 tele, so there is quite a difference in guitar sounds before starting on the pickups. If I can put down the T-Tops, I'll pull the Teles out this weekend and do some listening again.
-
I'd like to know more about those T-Tops.
-

this could be the final blow on every attempt to suffocate my 7 strings GAS. oh my... :)
-
Hummm this T-Tops sounds interesting!!!
-
:D
I can hear the growing chant, it started as a whisper, but now more and more are joining in...
"T-Tops, T-Tops..."
But I'll need another guitar!!
-
I hope this isn't one of those "obvious but wrong" comments which sets the buzzers off on QI, but....
.....don't we already basically have T-Tops, in the form of Riff Raffs? :?
-

Tim would really need to tell you all the differences Philly, but the DC of the T-Tops is like a low end Gibson reading (7.6/7.2K) where the Riff Raffs are at the higher end (especially the bridge) (8.6/7.4k). I'm still trying to get a good work out with the T-Tops (my job has me at work 12-14hrs most days), but from the bit I have played them, I would say they are not as shrill as the Riff Raffs can be (when I first fitted a bridge Riff-Raff to my LP I was not sure about it at all).
-
Thanks Phil. :)
-
T-Tops eh? Hmmmm......
-
I'm also interested where the T tops fit in, how does it compare to the A5 Mule, Phil?
-
69 Strat Set - David Gilmour meets Bare Knuckle - AV 13K.5.6K/5.6K
.
Is that right? A 13K single coil bridge? Oh my goodness!
-
Probably the BKP take on the old diMarzio FS-1, which was in the bridge position of David Gilmour's black Strat, among other guitars.
I may installate an original vintage FS-1 in my '69 Strat.
And aren't the Sinners already well hotter than 13K?
-
My old (now gwems) uber-sinner clocked in at 23k.
I dont know if the aftermath will be a main line pickup, but if you want one I imagine Tim will know what youre talking about if you asked for one.

Oh you swine
As a stockist I was pondering how many humbucking pickup sets I need to keep in to cater for every situation
With all the variations of:
- 2 con/4 con,
short leg/long leg ,
vintage spaced/tremolo spaced,
open coils/covered,
black coils/cream/white/zebra/other colour options,
nickel/chrome/gold/burnt chrome/black/aged/etched/distressed covers
I gave up trying to please everyone once it got over several THOUSAND pickup sets to keep in stock - I'll stick with the most popular/asked for and have the rest on request (especially as Tim & the team at BKP winds them pretty promptly)

Hi Jon,
I can sympathise with you, but I got my T-Tops (basic double blacks), in less than a week shipped to the States. That's amazing service. I think I only spoke with Tim about them in the afternoon, dropped in my order and they must have been on someone's workbench the next day!
-
I'd like to see a humbucker in a singlecoil casing.

IS THERE A "T" MOULDED INTO THE TOP OF THE BOBBIN?
-
IS THERE A "T" MOULDED INTO THE TOP OF THE BOBBIN?
No - Tim hasn't taken the quest for perfection that far!

i had the great pleasure to try these a couple of nights ago and have to say they are an absolutely amazing set. sweet, open, balanced tone - full of detail and subtlety. not short of output either! the word 'exquisite' would not be hyperbole
tim's pickups are getting better and better in my opinion.

Stop here, please - I see a bad GAS rising
Now gentlemen (not a lotta ladies around, uh ?), please pardon my obvious lack of culture, but could someone tech me about this "T Top" reference ? Looks like everybody - but me - knows what it's all about :?
-
Gibson patent number pickups, those following the PAF, migrated into the T-Top - named after a T shaped tooling mark on the bobbins.
Think of them as equal coiled low-output PAFs, rather than offset wound coils, and you'll be in the ballpark ;)
-

Sorry it took my a bit to pull out the AV Mule guitar. When gwEm was over on Tuesday we had it out - along with a few sets of NOS valves for my JTM45. The mule is fatter sounding (as perhaps you would expect). The T-Tops have an amazing amount of detail in them - I have a feeling that they are really lightly potted but they don't squeal (unless you are right in front of the amp with a fulltone GT-500 with both the boost and distortion turned on). If you know the sound that TS McPhee had on Cherry Red then you will know what the T-Tops sound like (there's a name for them!)

Hey, do you think they would be the "go" to these sounds, I got interested on "Stormy Mondays with more power" thing

Now that I am acclimatised to humbuckers in my 339, the thoughts of a possible change at sometime are developing. Not that there is anything wrong with the 339 as as but for all the reasons we love BKPs, if I can get it even better now that would be great. The damn thing has become my gig guitar with my old Strat forlornly staying out on the stand.
-
is there an overwound version of the riff raff?
something in the black dog ballpark, but sharper and less middy?
-
The VHII............
-
The VHII............
but... but... I have the impression that the VHII is even more middy than the black dog? (at least in mahogany) :?
both black dog and VHII seem to have the amount of chunk that I'm looking for, but there's something about the riff raf that I love
whatever I choose is probably going into a '81 les paul standard (maple neck)
I'll email tim when I have it in hands

Not from my experience! They were like a hotted-up Riff Raff!

This excellent site explains most of the early gibson humbucker history: http://home.provide.net/~cfh/paf.html (http://home.provide.net/~cfh/paf.html)
-
Excellent article! I have read that lots of these early guitars people are after is because of this slightly difference in their winding, so unique from one another. A reason why I like my BKP's. Recreating old school this days at an affordable price.

I'm putting my vote behind Cherry Reds for the name!

ok, now I have chronic GAS for a VHII :(
can someone compare it to a gibson tim shaw paf reissue?

Blimey, that's a very specific comparison request! :P
Sorry I can't help, but isn't one of the main features of the VHII that it has a pronounced "stagger" between the two coils (like a DiMarzio Fred or something), so you get more of an "open" sound? I don't think the Riff Raff has that.

The aftermath sounds pretty sick. I'm very interested in hearing it...when is it gonna be done?

No, is the short answer. A couple more people have one now, but 2 of the 3 people that have it were offered it, as is Tims perogative (first me, obviously, then nolly, with one other lucky fella that asked for it and got it in between - it might be the most exclusive pickup on the planet ), but its not generally available and wont be until its been thoroughly gig tested (by tim; he has one in a gigging LP alongside 3 others with MM, CS and PK for reference) and has a neck counterpart; at least one person has already been refused it because its not for widespread distribution yet, and only tim can know when/if it will be, and he doesnt know yet.
Cant really say anymore, cos its not really my place. Might have said too much already  But thats the basic situation.

Or because they've $%ing awesome.
I have two now :D
-
You're on the spot now.... more Aftermath clips wanted..... cummon and share the wealth already!
-
I'm not, I certainly will sooner or later, but preferably after their official release so as not to cause any more confusion (a major dealer started losing orders because people were waiting for the aftermath, and I understimated the rate at which my blabbing would spread and the hype that it would create (I thought 'none' and the answer was 'a bit')) and, what, you want my aftermaths? Not a chance!
-
it's all yore fault. i just wanna hear shite, cuz i'm a nerd
-
Well tough, so ner :P
A fella did record a short clip when he first got his. Oddly in an SLSMG, which is what my second aftermath is in. If you search you should find it. Its short but its decent tone.
