Just got back in from a Doppleganger gig tonight, and as it was at a venue I know well I took Francine. I used her for the first set, plus the first few from set two, plus the encores. The blue Esquire performed admirably in the intervening period :)
She sounded and felt superb. Fantastic through a cranked amp, and sustain for days - I had a few Nigel Tufnell moments! I think the pickups are not completely potted which aided some musical feedback, maybe they've just got the magnets in wax or something. Whatever the SD Custom Shop did it works, and it's probably what Tim does on the unpotted BKPs.
I'll definitely take her out again sometime, but it's the Modern Eagle's turn next!
And, just for Fernando, a pic or it's not true ;)

Looks great Dave - that must be the most expensive back line of any pub gigging player!
-
Have you grown eyes in the back of your head for those times it's sitting on the stand?
-
Ha ha! It's right in the corner of the pub and the band were sat out front during the break. It's during the tear down that it's most vulnerable, so I take extra care.
it was great to use it "properly"!
-
Good for you Dave, looking good as well.
Colour looks very similar to my Page LP under the lights, maybe we have a gig pics thread?
-
Looks very good to me. I had similar thoughts to Philly. My Gibson cost a lot less and yet I am watching like a hawk when it comes to breaking the gear down.
-
I once left the Modern Eagle in it's case on the stage and only found it when I went back into the pub for a final check  I'm a bit more careful now.
I've just been sent another few pics, so here's my Rock N Roll stance

The flame looks gorgeous on that one.
-
She's looking good Dave ! :) - although I think you need to lower your guitar strap a bit more, your knees are just showing.

Very nice looking guitar :)

Looks great TF!

 That's as low as that strap will go, and I don't think my wrists will bend enough to play it any lower!
The flame is awesome in the flesh Steve. The whole Pearly Gates run has some amazing maple on it - the best I've seen from Gibson since the 50s. They seem to have sourced some really light and resonant mahogany too.

It's alright, I s'pose, a bit vulgar and flamey for my tastes

Are you confusing it with Shobet's friday night posts perhaps ?

I wouldnt be brave enough to take that to some of the places we play-you're a brave man twinfan!
-
I wouldn't take it everywhere, but it'll get a run out from time to time :)
-
is the ACDC poster purposely blocked out of shot? ;)
-

Realistically, it's no more likely to get knicked than any other Gibson.

True, but as the owner you'd be a lot more pissed off if this one got nicked.
-
Exactly! No bugger knows what it is anyway
-
I know

That looks wonderful and I bet it sounded amazing through a fully cranked amp.
You're brave though, I'm sad to say if it was mine It wouldn't leave the music room
