Title: Mules in a Schecter Corsair (Porl Thompson Model)....now with added links :o
Post by: ChevyBass on March 23, 2010, 01:02:28 PM
Hi Guys,

Thought i'd post a little something using the coil tap on the pickups, the pickups in question are a calibrated 50mm long leg chrome cover set and are recorded using line6 riffworks with pod farm, the model used is the blackface 'lux with spring reverb and a little compression for the clean bits (which aren't my composition by the way, just something from 'guitarist' mag)

All volume and tone controls were set to full for all, and the format is as follows:

Main rhythm guitar- Neck coil tap Hard left in the mix and bridge coil tap hard right

Then the coil taps are disengaged for the rest of the clip leaving it in full humbucking mode

1st lead - neck
2nd lead - middle
3rd lead - bridge

after the drum fill it's the same amp settings and

1st lead - neck
2nd lead - bridge

Hope you like it, any requests to record another type of sound gladly received...

The link was well worth the wait !

Great tone(s) and playing.  I enjoyed rewinding that a few times. The chronically misguided ( ) will ask for heavier sounding clips - but as far as the middle aged bloke who lives in my house is concerned ( I just asked him ) - you have already given us "An embarrassment of riches".

Welcome to the forum - and congratulations on such a 'strong' entrance . :D

Thought i'd post a real 'bare bones' clip to hear exactly how much difference the coil taps make...

Pod farm again, this time with a 'Plexi' type amp set clean at first then at around 8 for the dirty tones (coil tap and humbucker use the same tone for continuity).

1st - Clean going from bridge to neck

2nd - Clean going from bridge to neck (Coil-tap)

3rd - Dirty bridge (Coil tap)

4th - Dirty neck (Coil tap)

5th - Dirty bridge

6th - Dirty neck

That's it, i promise, no more from me until i change the pickups in my lite ash tele  :P
