Hi folks,
            After seeking opinions here earlier i procured a 2002 US fender tele on e bay, deciding against the baja
and others 'cause i don't like vintage hardware.
It's a cracker(500quid +pp) in mint cond. with case, so despite the risk of e bay unbeatable value is there.
Only problem was it sounded so good i had to toss & turn as to bkp'ing it or not.The bridge pup was lovely and
melodic, springy sounding good clean or driven. The neck a bit dull but well acceptable.
Blackguard f50's.... couldn't resist it and banged 'em in yesterday.
Certainly in the same ballpark which is probably a good thing as it already sounded good. Immediately (after a tweak or two) i prefered the neck pup over stock(clean). The bridge was very tele but not as 'sweet' as the stock
(clean).It has a harder  edge but is a very nice usable pup esp for the country twang thang which i like.Normally for
clean leads this would compressed anyway making a very nice sound.
Now i loved the stock overdriven also and was worried that the bg's wouldn't be as hot and wouldn't sound as good
esp the bridge. I needn't have worried; i could waste time trying to explain in words.A bit like trying to describe wine. They come to life with the most stunning harmonic spectrum, esp the bridge.Another happy member of the 'blaggard' club.
Last thing , as a product out of the box they have a lovely well made look. I don't like vintage stuff like cr@ppy machineheads when superior quality  are available, but having that handmade appearence at the same time as sounding first class is a winner.

Having continued 'field trials' all morning the BG flat 50's are indeed worthy of praise.Sooo full of character!
