some of you might remember my LP Classic Antique (week 33 of the GOTW series)... i really liked the '57 plus bridge pickup, but i found the neck '57 almost unusable... a triumph of mud.
after some time i upgraded it with a set of Mules, spiced by an AV magnet in the bridge unit, and discovered that, while the neck Mule was everything i dreamt of, i needed something punchier in the bridge. after all i play mostly metal!
so it came the second upgrade... a bridge Rebel Yell. this happened months ago but i never shared my impression with you, so here it is, in her asymmetrical glory!
after all i like the look of the mismatched pickups, and - most of all - i like so much the neck Mule that i won't risk the subtle tonal alteration that could come from a cover...
oh, and the Rebel Yell?
PERFECT. the exact tone i was after for this guitar. not too aggressive, but definitely hot. very versatile, solos scream in pure hard rock tradition, cleans are middy and bright, with no nasal overtones... rhythms are thick and adequately tight... a real rock/metal machine!

pretty

I may have drooled a little :P
...kinda wish the zebra cream matched the shade of the pickup rings, but it's still a shexy beast

That does look real cool! 8)

Looks amazing!

this les paul looks so good.
its actually become a personal benchmark when judging finishes on les pauls.
If i see a les paul in a shop and it looks as good as this, then its a contender for a NGD even though i don't need one.

the funny thing is that i payed it much less than a standard because it was one of those Guitar Of The Week models that had little success... the world is strange.

Yeah, I've noticed many times that BKP's cream bobbins are lighter than most pickup rings. I wonder if that's true of the rings in the BKP shop?
Still and all, lovely guitar!
