These things are mini computers with a phone. Its an amazing thing it really is.
Does anyone one else have one in here and if so what apps do you have that are really good?!
-
I have it on my iTouch, Carling's iPint is amusing for 30 seconds
-
I dislike the iPhone, but a new phone is a new phone I guess.
-
You might like the spirit level app too
-
It depends on what you want to do with the phone when it comes to choosing the applications.
I use the flicker app, Twitterific for tweets, Skype for when I'm connected to a wireless network, Alarm Clock, eBay, IMDB, yell, amazon, the national trust, the telegraph and the list goes on and on. I also have a pile of apps installed for work that allow me to monitor and access servers if needed.

Go on admit it, it's just a mini porn station
-
I put the London A-Z on it. The format is exactly like the books. Its bloody amazing to be honest.
I put the Ultimate Guitar one on so you can get tabs on your phone. There are 10,000s of them apparently so whats not to like.
-
If you use the London Underground at all then Tube Deluxe is helpful.
Guitartoolkit is also very nice. Tuner, metronome, 50,000 chord library (I think!) with lots of scales too!
Tabtoolkit is similar to your ultimate guitar one. Kinda like powertab/guitarpro, but you need a computer to load the tabs on (I don't know if you have to do this in the ultimate guitar app?).
The Manetron is also good for a laugh, basically a Mellotron you can play on the screen.
I should note you'll have to pay for all these, but you get free ones too like Pocketguitar.

Cheers Ted.
Have a look at Thumb Jam, really good fun. Its a looper with loads of samples in.

I use Vicinity a lot. That tells you about interesting/useful things close to your current location. I concur on the greatness of Guitar Toolkit. I also use Mill Colour and PS Mobile for tweaking photos I take with the camera before uploading them with the flickr app. Drinks Pro is good if you like mixing c--ktails, SoundHound is excellent at identifying songs being played and you can get the classic game Worms too.
I think the iPhone is the best gadget I've ever owned. You can also get an iPlayer downloader for your computer so you can save shows to watch at your leisure. I don't take a laptop with me anywhere near as often as I used to as for my net surfing, music and video needs it does a great job.

I shall get guitar toolkit, it sounds great. Skype too.
I upgraded my Spotify account to Pro for a tenner. Now I can use it on the iPhone. It amazes me at the best of times Spotify but to have it on a mobile is incredible I think. This sort of thing was unheard of a few years ago.
I've got two partys to go to this weekend, so with a mini jack to phono cable in my jacket pocket I'm sorted.
As for the mini porn player capabilitys, yes indeed its all too easy view the hun and while showing my woman the uses of the iPhone was caught bang to rights in the browsers history. Well i laughed it off. She didn't and threw me out!! It didn't last long though as she phoned me up within 5 minutes asking me to come back. The reason i never deleted it is i couldn't give a monkeys if she found it or not. I didn't think she would react like that as she has never shy'd away from a bit of porn. So a lesson learned there. Don't under estimate the unpredictability of a woman and delete your smut from your history! :D

Agreed.
Do you really have to go to the trouble of downloading an 'app' to use the iphone as an alarm clock? Oh dear...

500,000 and growing -
but most importantly - when you change to a Drop D or any other tuning in the app, the tuner, scale fretboard, and chord library all update to reflect your tuning.
Tabtoolkit is similar to your ultimate guitar one. Kinda like powertab/guitarpro, but you need a computer to load the tabs on (I don't know if you have to do this in the ultimate guitar app?).
You can download files directly to your device, or transfer from your computer. Rich playback is enabled for GuitarPro or PowerTab files, which the UG app does not do.
Thanks for the shout out!

Not me I use the one it came with.

This guitar toolkit is just brilliant. I still use my old Cliff Dowse Scales book, I'll have to get in to the habit of using all this new tech. Its worth getting an iPhone for this alone!
