Hi guys,
was musing over the idea of getting pups with/without covers and was wondering if it's mainly a look thing or whether there really is a big/actually noticable difference (sound wise) between the same pup with and without a cover?

No
Basically

thought so, just checking :)

Lol i actually thought they did :S I mean you put on a big metal surface on something? In my head that would make the whole thing brighter :S

A metal cover acts as a shield against interference. It also round off the highs a bit. This can be compensated for in the wind.
-
And Tim does compensate for the covers!
Bareknuckle covered and uncovered Pickups sound exactly the same!

I'll borrow this thread a little...
I ordered a few days ago bridge Warpig with distressed cover. Damn, I just can't wait to see it on my SG...!
Anyways, I really wanted the pup without screws/allen bolts showing. Now that there's been discussion that Tim really compensates the sound between covered vs uncovered pups (if I have understood correctly), I'm still anxious to know that will it affect the sound anyway when the srews are UNDER the cover, that means not visible, for example lesser highs and more bass? Because this is not what I actually want. Of course, the pup comes to execute some very...very heavy stuff,, so little roll-off in the highs will be OK for me, but I still would like to get closely the same sound as uncovered version, or the "normally" covered version...hope you all understood what I'm rambling.
What do you think? Does the covered Warpig with screws showing have same sound as covered Warpig without the screws showing?
Thanks in advance, and greetings from Finland! And sorry about my cr@ppy English.

Warpig arrived...and stole my heart. I guess my question was answered already above and actually I don't even care anymore, because my Warpig is absolutely amazing. Sounds stunning, looks stunning!
Thank you Tim (and everyone else, if there are in BKP)...you've done fantastic work. :D

I have used both coverd and uncoverd Mule, N.B and C.S and removed covers from Ibanez, Gibson and some others,
and I feel that the sound is a bit mellower and softer sounding. 8)
