Title: Black Dog brutality
Post by: Roobubba on April 07, 2010, 02:37:48 PM
Just uploaded some new tracks to our Myspace page:

www.myspace.com/13gauge

Guitar rig is:

WezV Vociferator (search for 'vociferator' or just 'bubinga' on here and you'll find it) loaded with bridge Black Dog.
14-68 hex core D'Addario Baritone strings
ClearTone cables throughout
Bodenhamer Bloody Murder (Level max, Tone 3/4, Gain min)
Peavey 5150-II head, Drive channel settings: Pre-amp gain 3/10, Low 6/10, Mid 7/10, High 3/10, Post-amp gain 3/10.
ISP Decimator Pro-RackG
Into 2 cabs: 4x12" (X pattern Celestion G12K + EVM 12L Black Label) and [2x15", 2x8"] home-made cab with 15" Celestion Bass speakers and 8" Wharfedale bass drivers, all 100W power handling.

Microphone is a Zoom H2 Handy Recorder placed in the middle of the band room, recording 2 x stereo tracks.

That's it. Nothing edited, this is just band room rehearsal recording. Very happy with the recorder, and quite pleased with the aggressiveness of the guitar (especially at such low gain settings).

(PS Yes I know the PA is cr@p)

Hope you enjoy it!

Yeh, definitely invest in some better recording equipment or some studio time so we can give you a more objective critique. But from what i could hear, ya'll got a good tight sound. The guitars are good but nothing special, just my opinion. The real standout is the drummer. His fills are pretty good and he infuses some well needed groove into many sections of your songs.

I'm sure our drummer will be very happy with your little critique.

Need to get the studio to invest in a better PA, the rest of the recording equipment is perfectly fine, but I will need to continue playing with the setup a bit.

I'm sure it would sounds WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better with a Tele Esquire with a Piledriver on bridge
