At least you'd save on baggage weight when touring overseas.

gibson say:

Quote
Creativity has always been the backbone of ingenuity at Gibson USA, and the Holy-V Flying V Guitar of the Month, January 2009 is the latest example of Gibson's imaginative spirit.

The traditional features of the Flying V are apparent in the Holy-V - the mahogany V-shaped body, pointed headstock, and hybrid neck profile are all true to the original's design. Carefully carved vented openings in both the neck and headstock are a testament to Gibson's creative genius, giving the Holy-V a more intense look and character, while ending up as one of Gibson's lightest production guitars to date.

and furthermore:

Quote
The Holy-V sports a single '57 Classic pickup in the bridge position, supplying that classic Gibson PAF crunch and power.

gibson wouldn't lie to us.. would they? ;) i don't know, clearly all that stuff is marketting bullsh1t, but i still think it has something

I have to say, I'm with gwEm on this one, I think it's pretty cool! But then I thought that the reverse V was cool, so..... :)

Seriously, I can't see how that massive boomerang cutout between the neck and pickup can be anything but detrimental to the tone.  The holes in the wings I couldn't care less about.

Anyway, I suspect gwEm has brought this abomination up again because he knows there's one for sale somewhere and he's about to buy it....  :P

philly can see right through me - i think it would be a cool place for a BKP T-Top.

main reason i brought it up again is to be talked into some sense!

+1

If it didn't have that hideous boomerang (& the equally stupid arrowhead cutout in the headstock), I'd be all over it.

A single humbucker, fixed bridge FV with Trini Lopez inlays?  YES PLEASE!!

If you like it, fair enough. But knowing how well your V90 plays...! do you need another single p'up V?

I think that guitar looks pretty sick personally. Good thing it only has 1 pickup though or I'd want it.

they should give you the cutout bits of wood from those guitars when you buy one - they'd make great door stops

The biggest problem with holey Gibsons is that they don't burn as long as the regular ones.

i don't think...
on gibson's website the info page of a limited run Les Paul i actually own stated that it sported push pull pots too... of course it doesn't - when i mailed their tech support that there was a mistake either in their site or in my guitar's wirings they answered that YES, my guitar HAD push pull potentiometers indeed... with normal 2 conductor pickups i wonder what they were supposed to do anyway... :)
pr!cks.

Oh no - this is payback isn't it Philly
You know that I've asked Gwem for first refusal on that baby if he ever sells

It' s v nice - 25.5" scale as well (its what Rudy Schenker uses on de-tuned Scorpions songs live - his is painted black and white)

I'm not sure if that's gwEm's actual guitar or just a similar one - I found it in Google images.

it looks just like that yes, except mine has a BKP Holy Diver and the special gwEm volume bypass switch.

jonathan keeps dropping hints i should sell it to him when ever i see him ;) its a very well thought out, nicely made and good sounding instrument.

i didn't buy the Holy V... i would like to though, the video clip i posted of it isn't the best sounding but its far from terrible - hard to judge with the guys gear and so on.

i'm still going to listen to you guys and not buy it blind. if i come across one in a shop i'd certainly put it to the test though - if it sounded ok and i could afford it it would be mine ;)

in the market for another V at the moment to load with the marvellous new BKP T-Tops
