Tonight was the last rehearsal before The Fallen Poets take to the stage in a pub in Southend next Wednesday!!!
Was a good rehearsal too... Got to try out my Renegade, and it sounded awesome. The songs were right, timing was good, mix was good...
Haven't gigged for about 20 years though... Cacking myself?
:|
This is us, by the way:

You'll be fine, enjoy it.
Tell us all about it afterward... Break a leg!
-
Try to remember to relax into it and you will love every moment. Knock 'em bandy.
-
Good luck, let us know how it goes :D
-
Best of luck mate - have a blinder!
-
Best wishes from me too Mr B. Remember it's supposed to be fun! :D

Good luck Mark! :D You'll be fine your a good player.
I wish my band were gigging. :?
-
Enjoy it and wear dark trousers.
-
Good luck....think I will be in same position soon..has been a while
-
I just listened to your band. I like it.
in my sleepy haze I imagined it with galloping drums spending ages to build up into a huge loud crescendo like some bands I can't remember the name of. I know its not exactly like that, but rest assured in my head it was awesome. Not that it isn't awesome to begin with, mind.
Yo, nightshifts are a killer.5 hours sleep. urgh.
-
That's cool, just think of it as putting all of your practise into good use. I'm sure once you start playing it will all be good. Break a leg!
-
Well, that was the gig.
Not bad, all things considered. cr@p venue, cr@p PA, only one mic stand, no foldback monitors... Very "studenty", a garage band on before us. But we did OK, given that it was hardly more professional than an open mic night.
Next stop, the Box Club in Chelmsford!
Sweating like a b@stard though...
Mark.

Great that it ended right! congrats!
-
Great that it went well but with the mic stands, we always take our own even if the venue has a PA system ( we always take our mics too for that matter). Onwards and upwards!
-
Yep, what Mr38th said!
Glad it went OK mate, and yes it does get hot out front!
-
Congratulations :D
And yep to wot they said ^
Take own mic stands, and even more important, own mics - partly because of sound, but also cos you never know what some diseased erk has flobbed into a "used" mic
And towels, lots of towels... and, unless I had a "costume" that required donning before the show, I used to take a dry shirt, at the very least, for afterwards... there's nothing worse than a freezing get-out when you're soaked to the skin!!
-
I know what you mean about the towels!!!
-
Hey, I didn't realise you were in Suzi Quatro's new band... (bet she's never heard that before!)
That's a fine looking telecaster-man shot in the first one... that cable would have really p1ssed me off big-time though!
I can't remember the provenance of that tele - I sure we know about it on here already, but tell us again :D (it looks suspiciously like a Baja neck, but...)

It's funny, I never made the Suzi Quatro connection til I saw that picture!
The Tele is my partsocaster - Blackguard Flat 50s, Joe Barden bridge, lovely.
And yes - that picture FINALLY answers the question; Real Men Play Telecasters.
(and wear mauve jumpers...)

Nice stuff - but what about the neck? Is it a Baja?

Sorry Ian - no, it's not a Baja neck, it's actually from Axes R Us. Same with the body. Great pieces of wood, and great value!
Mark.

Cheers Mark. Axes R Us are pretty cheap for stuff like that. What was the quality of the neck like out of the box?
-
The ends of the frets needed taking down a little.
Also, I needed to shape and fit the bone nut (which was supplied), but that was relatively straight forward. THe fret ends needed tidying up, but it was fine to play our of the box.
I ended up taking it to Bob @ Legra, and he did a decent setup on it for me.
The neck is actually really nice. Chunky, c profile. And pretty.
-
Cheers Mark - may look into them one day.
Ian.
