Dont know how many have heard, Type O Negative frontman Pete Steele has died, aged 48.
RIP Pete, one of my favourite bands and some of my greatest gig memories.
:(
-
Has this been officially confirmed? Type O faked his death as a publicity stunt in the past ...
-
Metal Hammer have confirmed it not long ago:
"Hammer is saddened to hear that the rumours about Pete Steele’s death have been confirmed as being true.
In an email to Blabbermouth, Type O Negative keyboard player Josh Silver has confirmed that Pete Steele has been found dead. No official cause of death has yet been confirmed, but rumours allege that Steele died of heart failure."

I heard about this this morning. Really sad. I think he was only in his late 40's too. He'll be missed.
-
What sad news. It's a shame they never got any lasting commercial success, Black No.1 was part of my soundtrack to the mid '90s and it'll forever remind me of those days.
-
Is MetalHammer a credible news source?! ;)
It's probably true, but we've been told all this in 2005 by the same sources!
-
In tribute I'll dig out the Carnivore vinyl when I get home tonight and also stick Black No.1 on Very loud too.
Really sad he was a strange but great frontman.
-
damn.
"Everyone i love is dead" indeed
-
I was also sceptical when I heard this, but one of the MH guys has 2 Roadrunner employees on his Facebook friends and they both confirmed it too. :?
Unfortunately though, until I see the evidence, I will remain a little sceptical. As has already been said, Type O have "cried Wolf" about this a few times before.
I'll be chucking October Rust on anyway today, just in case.

It's been confirmed on their website and confirmed from various friends of his on twitter etc.
-
Not always my taste but RIP
-
really sad, he was too young to die this way...
