Hi guys.

I've sold quite a bit of stuff on ebay before, but never around the christmas period. Now I have some rather specific guitar based stuff that I would like to sell; e.g. pickups, attenuator and so on.

I really want to maximise the increased usage that ebay gets over christmas period in order to increase potential sales. Given that these things are hardly generic items, and that they are stuff that people would have to be looking for specifically, in order to find them, do you think that listing them before or after christmas is the best time to do it?

Anyone got any experience selling on ebay over christmas?

I've found Christmas generates a lot more sales, as theres a lot more people visiting ebay. After christmas theres quite a drop in interest in eBay products as everyone's broke  :lol:

I've been looking at Chorus pedals on EBay for the last month and they seem to be going for higher than normal.  :(

this is kind of interesting for me too- i have an amp i want to get rid of. I haven't used ebay before, but am half thinking about it. If christmas does generate more sales...  :twisted:

Definitely pre-Christmas, although the gear you're selling will probably appeal more to people who are going to possibly be buying stuff for themselves (IMO).

In my experience though, most folks watch stuff until the last minute, then bid in the hope of getting stuff cheap, it's best if you can entice someone to start the bidding early which seems to get other people interested in your item(s), and then gets you the best price. The knack seems to be pitching your item at "the right start price" (whatever that may be). Watch similar auctions and see what price they start & finish at to give you an idea.

All the prior posts are correct.  The only thing I would add is make sure you have nice pics.  Items with nice pics sell for more.  If you never used ebay before you might not get that high of a price unless what you have is rare.  If there are too many others that list the same item usually people with more and better feedback get the higher price.  Lots of payment options such as Paypal is also good.

don't sell over the actual christmas period as my mate found you can pick up some bargains at that time.

I've just picked up a voivod cd for £1.64 weehey.

Just a thought.  

Selling guitar stuff on ebay is not really what people look for to buy someone for christmas unless they told them too.
I think after christmas when all the kids and stuff have that extra christmas cash might be better.  

I bet BKP's get a spike in sales after christmas....

no my friend said that one item he bidded on normally went around the 250 mark, but he got his between christmas and the new year for 100. he thought it was because people were too busy celebrating.
