Title: NGD!
Post by: dragonfire709 on April 25, 2010, 07:49:06 PM
Heres a bit of a delayed NGD. I actually received it 2 weeks ago, but as our first daughter was born the day after i received it this put my tinkering time back a bit!

This one was a bit of an impulse purchase. I have a bit of a liking of Mavericks. They are really good quality guitars that dont attract a lot of interest-hence you can normally get a bargain. (You wouldn't like them though)

Anyway-here she is;

She is a Maverick G2 in 'Desert Storm' which is a kind of silvery sparkly colour which looks great under lights.

Unfortunately when i first tried her the stock pickups sounded really muddy and plain awful! It was only with a bit of prodding that i worked out it was fitted with some kind of active pickups. I didnt really know what to do, but with a last minute gig booked with a new band for last night I decided to take a risk on Friday night a stick AN Other bridge pickup in that I had 'in stock!'

I tested it through my practice rig on Friday night so I knew it was working, but I didn't know how it would sound until I set my full rig up for the gig last night.

Luckily as soon I plugged it in and hit that first chord I knew it sounded 100% better so the spare guitar stayed in the boot and On Edge rocked the Railway!

I can see this guitar getting a lot of use this summer!

Cheers

Roy
