Title: What wood to use with Warpigs?
Post by: Stranger on April 26, 2010, 09:50:14 PM
I'm going to be purchasing a new guitar, then installing a set of BK Warpigs.  What wood has the best resonance with these, maybe mahogany?  I'm going to be playing high-gain metal and punk (thrash, grind, death, crust, etc).

Welcome Stranger!. Mahogany and Warpigs get along very well...SG's in my experience.

I'm shopping around for something neck-through, mahogany, no whammy system, and with cheap stock pups that I wouldn't mind removing.  I'm not trying to spend more than 400, since the BK Warpigs are going to run me another 300.  I was looking at Agile, but there are no low-end neck-throughs.  Anybody have other guitar suggestions?  I'm currently playing an Ibanez JS series, and may just use the Warpigs there, and transfer to another guitar later down the road, so I can save money to get something perfect.

Well i can say that the C-pig goes excellent with basswood. The a pig is ok in basswood. But it lacks some depth imho

Spear guitars has a decently priced neck through, but they are in the UK, not sure what you would pay in shipping
