Title: New Old Amp day approaching
Post by: Ian Price on April 27, 2010, 08:09:22 AM
Just bought myself an amp on eBay - a Laney VC30 and an extension cab for £299.00.

It looks in pretty good condition, the seller has 100% feedback and sells other guitar/music based stuff. I'm hoping I haven't made a mistake as I bought it on a whim!

Nice one :D

I used to have a VC30 'mini stack'.

What speakers are in it?

Cheers Tom. Being a complete doofus I didn't even think to ask the seller! He's just responded and said they are HH Invader speakers in the amp and cab.

Not really heard of them - after a quick search I've read some mixed reviews of them. Anyone got any experience of them. The guy has been kind enough to say I can cancel if I'm not happy with them.

I'll remember to check things out thoroughly in future!

they're just the stock Laney speakers.  they're not the best in the world, but not the worst either.  they'd certainly be perfectly passable until such time as you wanted to upgrade.  on the other hand, you might be perfectly happy with them

oh, and congrats on the amp!  sounds like a pretty good deal

Sadly it does mean thew Martamp is going. I had a sell back clause when I bought it from Dave so it will, if things go as expected, be back where it came from in a few weeks time!

That Deluxe is the only piece of gear I've regretted selling, so it's going to be great to get it back.  Although it will mean I have a complete stash of Martamps, maybe too many?

Ian sorry to here your matamp has got to go.

My what  :D

Yep - it is sad but I know it's going to a very good home. I would rather not do it but need to free up some cash for other stuff. I'm sure I'll have another martamp one day!

Opps spelling and typing was never my strong point.

Martamp or MJW it should read.

Cheers Ian

Not sure, I might do then again I might not!  I've got my first MJW on its way over the summer too, so I'll probably re-evaluate things when that's arrived.

Is that the high gain MJW? I remember something about a new one for you but not the specifics.

Yep, I've got a High Gain Orion on order.  Something 5150/SLO/Rectifier-ish and 'modern' sounding.

What's going on Dave? Modern guitars, high gain amps! Where does it stop? EMGs?

forgot to say cheers to everyone for the kind messages. I'm in that nervous anticipation phase now. Just want to grab it and play it.

Yeah yeah you'll grow a massive beard and be churning out pinched harmonics with your Black Label Tribute band with a SG V in a relic camo finish haha!
