Hi,
What sort of Bare knuckle tele pickups do you think will get this tone?

cheers guys

Ummm... I'd be interested to see what others say... but out of what I've had experience of, I'd say you've already got them!
I'd use Yardbirds for that, back off on the guitar volume a bit, and make sure there's no guitar pick in my hand. She's "popping" notes with her fingers quite a bit - Yardbirds seem to be nice for that style of playing.

Cheers Andy,
That intresting you may well be right. At the moment the closest to the tone I can get is with a mothers milk.
My yardbirds are in a maple neck, maple fretboard tele. I love the pickups in that guitar and they are staying put. Certainly with the maple neck and board I can not get close to that sort of tone. It just not got that warm sound, more bright and twangy as you might expect with the maple.
I have another tele with a rosewood neck, boss bridge and irish tour neck. The boss pickup is on borrowed time. On a previous post the general opinion was to swap it for a blackguard flat 50. Before I did I thought I would I ask you all the question what pickup for this kind of tone in a tele?
I really like this tone though am a little reserved about having the same pickup in two guitars.
Cheers

You'll love the Black Guard in a rosewood neck guitar if you are looking for a bluesy tone. I have them in a 62 MIJ custom and they sound great (though I should say these are the new wind). I have a set of the flatpole 50's in my 57 tele (maple neck, swamp ash body), and they work really well for all blues and rock tones there too.

Thanks for the replies Philking and Andy, guess I need to stop to thinking and just buy the pickup and give it a go.

May I hijack this thread for a bit... since I don't feel like starting up a new one for such a little question.
I have plenty of BKP products hooked up on my guitars (f.ex. my four Les Pauls are all fitted with BKP The Mule and Stormy Monday pups). I also have few SuperStrats with the Miracle Man and Holydiver pups.
Before using BKP products I used Seymour Duncan's SH-6 Duncan Distortion a lot for those SuperStrats and whenever I needed "lots of power" for playing heavier stuff. I have categorized my own axes to "vintage and modern" where all my Les Pauls deliver those sweet old school rock-tones (Mule and Stormy Monday are both excellent PAF-replicas). Now I would like to have my SuperStrats equipped with SH-6 Duncan Distortion -like BKP pickups. Are there any?
SH-6 Duncan Distortion is a hot pickup, with added highs and mids. It's built with a ceramic magnet. It's raw, focused and hot but still has clarity in it. DOES ANY BKP PRODUCT MEET SUCH SPECS?
PS. I'm satisfied with Holydiver and Miracle Man on those guitars they are in... but I'm looking for a bit tighter and less "bassy" pickup this time. For some reason those Holydiver and Miracle Man pickups tend to deliver too much low end on guitars with alder body... at least for my needs a the moment. Miracle Man with less low end would be a perfect one. Should I ask Tim to build me one? What do you guys think? Any ideas or info/help you could share?
Thanks already and sorry for hi-jacking.

agree with the finger picking here..
i'll probably swap my boss for a bg50 at some stage too

I really think you'd be better off putting this in another thread, it's so different to the topic of this one. :?
If you're looking for a hot, tight pickup, not too bassy, ceramic, I would have a guess at Painkiller, but high-output pickups aren't really my thing.

I used to use the Duncan SH6 - mainly due to my Dokken/George Lynch obsession
I found tat the Miracle Man was what made me switch to BKPs in the first place and replaced the Distortion
I found that the MM was a bit earthier and didnt have the upper midrange spike that the SH6 has.
There is a difference in the wire type as well - I had Tim make me his own faithfull copy of a Duncan Distortion but still came back to the Miracle man - something about it's tone that satisfies.

the painkiller has a very similar voicing to the sh-6, but without the ton of mud, so you won't get that duncan distortion grind on the mids

Yeah, I was re-reading what I wrote around the fingers earlier - one thing I didn't say was that I tend not to do so much "popping" with the BGs. I do do it, I do it on all guitars, I think I picked it up on strats originally - Rory did it quite a bit, but a couple of years ago I found out that SRV did it a huge amount and I kind of worked at bringing it on board in my playing...
I use it for effect, to speed things up a bit, and to get emphasis, especially on the high E and B.
However, for some reason, on my Yardbird tele, popping or pulling the notes like this gives me a tone that I kinda like, so I seem to do it a lot more... Can't watch the vid again at work, but I seem to remember that's what her playing made me think of...

Thanks guys for all the replies. They have been most helpfull.

Im still a bit torn BG50 or another yardbird. Guess I will get the guitar out and have a play with it and see if that helps me decide.
Thanks again guys

Yeah, that probably would deserve a brand new topic but thanks a lot for answering. Painkiller is the one I have been thinking of. I even used to have one some years ago in my Gibson Explorer, which I sold. Thou, that Explorer is full mahogany from neck to body, except the fingerboard. I bet alder+flame maple body gives you a drastic change in tone with the same pickup.

Thanks man for your answer too. I currently have Miracle Man hooked up on ESP Horizon FR-II's bridge position and I like it a lot too. This ESP Horizon has an alder body, maple neckthru construction and a quilted maple top. I'm actually getting a custom-made Jackson Kelly-style guitar with the similar tone woods. Alder wings with a flame maple top, 3-piece quarter-sawn maple neck and a neckthru construction.
Maybe I'll buy both Miracle Man and Painkiller... then test 'em both out and see what fits best my needs. I just need a grinding axe for our tech/brutal death metal band. I want it to be heard... I want it to be aggressive for sure, but I don't want to sacrifice the clarity. Those complex and fast riffs has to stand out the mix.
Thanks guys for your answers and help.
