I love the Nailbomb in my Charvel and it was great in an Ibanez too, both basswood.

Have a listen to the Tim Mills' clip with the Nailbomb, on the 'Player's' section. That's the Nailbomb in a basswood bodied Ibanez, through a Marshall JCM800.
You be the judge. There's no absolute best, it's just matching a guitar with the right pickup to suit the players taste.

What are the differences between a nb and a cs? How much diff in brightness, tightness, mids are there? Am I right to say a CS is better for rhythm work and the nb is more vocal for lead work?

There are similarities, as they're not a world apart considering the wind. The way I understand it, the Nailbomb is like an overwound Cold Sweat, but with an Alnico 5 magnet. CS has a ceramic magnet; it's brighter, has a faster tracking and tighter bottom and less mids. They both have quite a full bottom.
I have experience on them both. In my opinion, the CS is best in a warm and full sounding guitar, giving a tight and aggressive (but organic) tone there. I have it in a guitar like that and love it for leads too. I usually just match a guitar with the right pickup and use different amp settings / an overdrive pedal for leads. I don't really think of guitars like 'this is for leads' and 'this is for rhythm', although they sometimes do lend themselves naturally to certain things.

I have a set of NB's in a maverick F1 which is basswood, I also have a nb bridge/ cold sweat neck in an alder/maple neckthrough guitar, it sounds really good in basswood, it replaced a dimarzio evo/breed set that was in there when I bought it sounded fine for shred but did little else well...
You can get the nailbombs with ceramics which might make it tighter sounding...Im more than happy with the A5 magnets in mine though...
I like the cold sweat neck but I think I prefer the nailbomb set..
Im itching to try something a bit different like the rebel yells...

Whoever this zimbloth is, the NB often works very well in basswood, whatever he says.
