Title: SG and pickup leg length
Post by: roland_rat on May 12, 2010, 09:09:10 AM
Hi,

Am I right in thinking that a Gibson SG (faded one) will take a pickup with long or short legs at the bridge, but only short legs at the neck?

I thought I would ask you guys save me messing with the guitar to find out.

Thanks in advance

Long leg only in the bridge, long or short in the neck I believe...

When I put Riff Raffs (which I already had, admittedly) into mine, I didn't even think about it!

Mine are both long-leg, for what's worth :D

I had to use a lot of the padding from the BKP box to a) get them horizontal to the strings and, b) stop them jumping about like buggery when I looked at them...

You can get away with short legs even in the bridge postion, but in that case you won't be able to use the full-length springs!

i had a 61' ri sg with nbomb and riff raff with long legs, worked perfectly. I doubt your faded pickups cavities would be less shallow so you can go for some long legs pickups.
