So I applied for a promotion to a 'non-time-limited' contract as a staff scientist, and had my interview today in front of 5 professors and my current supervisor. The interview went pretty well, and they've offered me the post! Woo!
I somehow doubt this will leave me with more time for the guitar, though...

Great news :)
-
Philly you are a rascal  Congrats Roo.
-
Brillliant news - and obviously a remarkable achievement ! :D
I'm applying for the cleaner's job !
-
Congratulations, always good to hear some good news in these frankly depressing times! Nice one.
-
good show, now you'll have additional resources to conquer whatever GAS ails you!
-
So does this mean no more 24 hour shifts?
-
Congrats. Now you can afford that tele you always wanted, but just been shy to say about!
-
Congratulations :D
5 Professors, sounds very official. My last interview was in starbucks next to my office and lasted about 30 seconds.
-
Congratulations.
So who do you work for Sounds like a Uni?
-
Big congrats :D
I can't think of anymore amusing "tele" comments - in fact, I don't really think Philly's pic can be topped - so I shall say no more about it :)
-
Thanks everyone (except you, Philly, you dirty stop-out, you! :D)
So does this mean no more 24 hour shifts?
Sadly not - well I say sadly, but I quite enjoy working at the synchrotrons even if it does wipe me out for a few days.
Congratulations.
So who do you work for Sounds like a Uni?
I work for a major institute that does cancer research. We are the largest academic drug discovery outfit in Europe (possibly also the world), and I do X-ray crystallography of drug targets for our drug discovery and development programmes. It's a fantastic place to work (although the commute from Oxford is truly a b*tch!), and it's doing exactly what I want to be doing.
I count myself very lucky!

Any spare jobs going? I'm about two days away from knocking my boss the $% out.

Excellent Roo, a very worthwhile job too and you like it BONUS!
-
Brilliant, Roo! Congrats on that, and doing a very worthwhile job too mate, kudos! :D
Congratulatory treat for you, Roo...

Congratulations, that's great news! It's so good to hear someone who can be genuinely enthusiastic about what they do.

Nice one Roo, well done. I hope it all works out for you. Philly you crack me up!
Very worthwhile job too, it must be very challenging and interesting.
5 Proffessors interviewed you?! Was you nervous? My last 'interview' consisted of one question. Can you drive that lorry? Asked by an Ogre in rigger boots and a brown pin stripe suit!
