Title: Pup combination in a Custom wired Les Paul
Post by: Lezard on May 12, 2010, 06:01:22 PM
Hi Guys

I've got a Les Paul Standard and I'm looking for 2 pups that sound good together.
I'm thinking a stormy monday in the neck and a black dog in the bridge but i've been advised that a hot pup in the bridge and a mellower pup in neck can sound a bit lame when both are used simultaneously.

I've got my guitar set up with a phase shifter and a splitter, wired like this http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=jp_style

Any advice on pups that sound good together both in and out of phase would be greatly appreciated.

In my Les Paul I also have have a hot bridge pickup (CS) and a mellower neck pu (Mule) combinded. Can't confirm at all that this sounds lame in any way. In the middle position with both pus combined it just sounds like a dream - much better that I imagined it when Tim recommended it to me. I love it...
