I really liked the VooDoo X-plorer posted in the other thread.
My next parts-o-caster was going to be a Tele, but then I had an idea late last night...
Overlayed photos and scaled them to life size, here's a crude drawing but I think it will work..
The VooDoo Tel-X!!

I desperately want to see this happen
it'll be perfect for any heavy metal/coutry and western crossover projects
-
This is awesome Telexplorer!! DO IT NAO.

'K
Here's the plan.
Swamp ash body of course. One piece rosewood neck, 22 fret reverse Strat head.
Whatever Tim recommends for a hot Tele bridge, and a Nailbomb for the neck, one red, one black bobbin.
Working on toolpathing now. There is an old old Charvel Explorer toolpath in captivity, have to FIND it first, have to see if it is going to be compatible with current machine software and if the index points are the same.
If not, I'll have to buy a path and make a routing template for the perimeter, pretty sure I can get a slab body with Strat neck pocket and Tele bridge and controls routed.
Gotta complete the current Parts-O-Caster project first.
But I am excited about this one!

Wow,
That looks like the bar-steward child of fender and gibson..........I can't seem to think of it as anything but pure red-neck Americana :P
I WANT TO SEE IT HAPPEN!

When I saw this I was instantly reminded of an old Hondo guitar from the '80s:

Brilliant idea . :D
Another vote for " Do it ! "

You'll need to make sure the neck angle is quite shallow (like a Fender) if you're using a Tele bridge.
-
Wonderful idea!
And I have a gut feeling that Roo won't hate it... he'll probably wonder why you're using the "daft" bridge contraption (well, duh!), but I don't think he'll be as offended in his vitals as he is by an actual tele...

Yeah, no "bulbous bits" on an Explorer.
Are you going to try for the VooDoo finish, black with red in the grain?
-
Andy and Philly hit the nail on the head there.
The explorer itself with tele hardware doesn't look right. A bit like the bar-steward love-child of James Hetfield and Gabrielle. The hardware (and, sorry, that silly silly headstock) detract from the explorer, rather than gelling with it and producing something worthwhile.
But I'd be rather unsporting not to wish you good luck in making your monstrosity :D

:D Well, the tune-a-matic looks so blah... and black painted hardware is soooo entry level looking.
So yes, I'll be doing the red grain filler, deep purple stain and oil finish on the swamp ash body.
One piece rosewood neck. Either a reverse Strat or Tele head, you've got me almost convinced to go with a Tele head.
But it will have a Strat pocket and 22 frets.
Chrome modern Tele bridge, chrome ring Humbucker neck.
