Hey guys, I'm baffled. I've never had a uncovered humbucker that was microphonic? Anyone else come accross this? It a Crawler and does sound really great, but it was only yeasterday I got the chance to try it at a decent volume and I'm a bit hacked off. I got a few other guitars to test against with both covered and uncovered pick ups, including a couple that had hot pick ups too and they were all much less prone to squealing. Do you think Tim will be able to sort it out? To be fair I was thinking of sending it off to have an aged nickel cover fitted but I fear that's going to make it worse? Any info or advice would be appreciated, I've waited a long time to get one of these and now I'm somewhat disappointed. :?

Me think you should definitly contact Tim. I've played my uncovered Crawlers at more than decent volume (fully cranked up HRDx, this thing is bloody loud) and didn't have such problem.

Contact Tim over it and see what he says - possibly just needs to be redipped.
I have had that problem once or twice (and I am fussy to be fair as I tend to use a lot of gain and sit in close proximity to the amp) - however I have been able to fix this myself as I have very good wax dipping facilities.
I wax dip a lot of secondhand pickups and use a very good wax that penetrates well and seems to cure most squealing issues.

Cheers, i have sent the pick up back today and will let you know how I get on!

Just to let you guys know that Chris at BKP sorted the Crawler. He fitted an aged cover that looks tremendous and wax potted it and I'm real happy. 8)

Glad it all worked out with the pickup.
