Crivens. Wondered if he'd taken a turn for the worse when Heaven and Hell cancelled all their summer dates, obviously did, poor chap.

Very very sad news indeed.

Sad news. I love the Sabbath Heaven and Hell album they made 30 odd years ago.

Oh $%. I just had to sit down, I wasn't expecting that. One of my very first musical heroes.
RIP. And RIB, I guess.
-
i just found out .. i knew he's in for a tough ride, when he had to go to the hospital a while ago.. but i seriously hoped he'd pull through.. one of the biggest men in music has left today, even if he was 2ft 4.
RIP Dio!

A true legend. :(
-
Sad news indeed. One of the all-time greats, and his music has given me a great amount of pleasure over the years. I think I'll grab a beer tonight and put on the first Rainbow LP.

Very sad to hear. He made a huge contribution.

I thought that he was on the mend because of the H&H tour being promoted.

I first heard Ronnie when I was young lad just getting into rock music.
The power and passion in his voice was shocking and unmistakable. The impression he has left on me is indelible and I thank the Powers of the Universe for allowing me to have grown up with his music.
RIP Ronnie.

He had one of the really great rock voices and those early Rainbow albums were hugely influential. I remember playing Rainbow Rising until the LP was scratched to bits and I've still got all that stuff on mp3 long after most of the other bands I was listening to at the time have been forgotten. As a singer and frontman, he was right up there with Gillan, Plant and Ozzy Osbourne.

Roller coaster day. Heard the rumors early. Turns out they were a hoax but that he wasn't doing well. Breathed a sigh of relief, crossed my fingers and said a prayer that he was gonna get better. Then it came round again this afternoon, and this time it was confirmed. I'm still trying to come to grips with this. Last time I experienced anything like this was Freddie Mercury. An absolutely classy gentleman, an almost peerless vocal talent, and a tremendous songwriter. God bless you and keep you Ronnie. \m/

RIP Ronnie raise hell up there
-
I loved this man and his music dearly, true class and a stupendous vocalist. Broke my heart to hear this, I'd been following him closely the last few months, and my whole life too.
I was very touched by how some here worded their feelings and thoughts.
Ronnie was a true singer, left nothing short, last song of the night was always full power and range. Live on forever in peace my Hero.

One of my earliest and favorite artists who remained awesome right to the end. One of the true gods of metal has passed.
\m/ RIP DIO \m/

Sad news :(
He had a stunning voice and delivery.
-
at least i saw him in action once.
Me too - Manchester Apollo on the Dream Evil tour in 1987. Fantastic vocalist & frontman, I was a little young for his Rainbow & Sabbath days but I loved his early solo work. One of my early heroes.
RIP

Wow, thats terrible news - couldn't have been that old. Its a reminder to live for today coz you never know when your time is up.
-
I just read the news on another forum.
I didn't see this coming so I'm shocked. In rock you die at 26 or you live to grow very old.
RIP Ronnie.
-
:? RIP
-
by coincidence i've been listening to Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules for the last week
sad news, but at least he left a magnificent legacy
RIP Ronnie

He was 67. I hope I'm still rocking when I'm in my 60s...

Such a shame - I remember seeing Dio in the 80s when I used to accompany my metal teen friend to gigs to please his dad. I hated metal then but I remember that the Dio gig was a great gig and Ronnie had real presence for such a short guy. He was great on South Park too.
Rest In Peace

RIP
Now take your place in the cosmos among the Metal Gods :band5:

RIP RJD.
Go read the blog written by Dom Lawson over on the Metal Hammer website. Well written and shows great respect to Dio.
